MIA - Busy Busy Busy

Hello Y'all,  Sorry it's been awhile since I was here, but I have been busy busy busy!!

DH and I have been in New Zealand for the last three weeks redecorating my rental property.  You may remember that it had a friend in it (friend no longer) that left it in a horrible state.  We took 3300lb of stuff out of the garden to the garden waste depot!!

So far we have had the kitchen replaced, painted all the inside ceilings, walls, skirting and windowsills, had new carpet and vinyl put in, and restored the bathroom.  We have also put up all new curtains and lampshades, built and painted a fence and some gates, given the garden a tidy and are currently painting the outside of the house and all the exterior window frames.

The neighbours are so happy!  They have all come across to talk to us, and confirmed that my tenant had been telling everyone that she owned the house.  I have been pretty nervous that she might drive past and see us, but so far so good.  Will try and post some before and after photos once we are all finished.

The rental lady is coming around to take photos on Tuesday, so I best head back to work, we need to be all finished before she comes.

Hope everybody is well.   xxx

  • Thats so exciting. I am happy you are getting the house fixed up and I hope your new tenants will be great. :)
  • That sounds like you guys are doing a ton of work!  Have fun getting the house all fixed up!

  • That sounds like a relief to you!  I can't believe how filthy some people live; I'm so sorry your x-friend treated your home so poorly!

But I'm very glad to hear things are getting refreshed :-)

Btw where the heck are you and DH living??   Did I totally miss that resolution?  Weren't you like practically homeless before you came out to my neck of the woods for the holidays???

  • It is a relief to get it all looking good.  I hope I don't have to this again for awhile!

Ummmm, we are still homeless, and I don't have a job....  but for the rest of this week we are staying here, at the reno house, and then DH is flying back to Aus and back to work.  I will stay here in New Zealand for a couple more weeks, probably with my Mum, until he can get us a rental there and then I will go back and look for a new job.

Did someone say 'living on the breadline'?

  • Oh no Kath!  :-(

I'm so sorry.  I really hope that situation improves, like, yesterday. It's fortunate you have you have your mom to crash at for a while.  Ugh.  Keep positive; no breadlines for you yet ma'am!

  • Things are already looking up!  I talked to my old boss yesterday, and although she doesn't have a job for me, she does have a house we can rent.  It's a bit of a wreak, but the rent is about $100 under what we were looking at paying, so we will be able to paint the bedrooms and make it pretty.

It's not ready until the 25th, so I still get to hang with my family here in NZ until then.  Always have to look on the bright side.
