Sometimes the world just mindfux me and this is one of those perplexing moments that is hard to absorb.
Get this, the friend that I lost a couple of days ago was a fun-loving, slightly goofy, very likeable guy, hardly the type to taunt and get himself into an aggressive situation. He suffered a tragic fate of being shot by a gun by a neighbor, the story is just all kinds of bizarre and disturbing, but that's not my point here. One week before he died, there was a topic posted on one of the message boards he frequents that discussed "Politically Incorrect Gun Rules" for gun lovers, and this is a response he posted:
"I'm only 40 so I've barely lived half a life. But I've never...
a) been in a situation where a gun would have changed the outcome
b) been in a gunfight
c) needed a cop or a gun to protect me
d) had anyone threaten me within or without arms length
e) had to utter the words, "I've got a gun" or any other such threatening phrase
f) had an attacker of any sort
g) been in a gunfight, knifefight or any other sort of weapon fight beyond fist and feet
h) been in a life or death situation
i) felt the need to carry a gun
I wonder when I read crap like this, where the f&^% do you people live???? Dodge City circa 1882? You freaking gun nuts scare the **** outta me. "

It is just so hard to stomach that he was killed point blank by a gun after going on a rant like that within days before. Eerie, ironic, creepy... I don't even know what the right words are to describe that.

Re: mind is blown, this is truly freaky
Wow, that certainly is creepy.
So sorry to hear about the death of your friend. Was it an argument? Misfire?
It was really just a misunderstanding. If you are really interested I will post the news story link that explains the situation. It's just unfortunate and the whole thing makes me sick to my stomach.
Wow. That is very ironic and strange.
I'm so sorry.
That is so ironic! I'm sorry you are having to deal with this, Erin. I'm thinking of you!
Like Jenny#s, I'm curious of what happened. Can you share the link?
Here is the link to the news story.
Short story: Basically he mistakenly stumbled into the wrong apartment that was identical to his just before 3 am. He got in once and the resident told him to leave, which he did, but a few minutes later tried to climb back in again. He was very drunk and confused, but hardly a threat. The sixty five year old resident shot him rather than try and lock the windows/doors and usher him out the door to the right building. Just a very sticky situation all the way around, it's very bizarre.
Unfortunately he is not the first friend I have had who was shot. Under completely different circumstances I had lost someone over 10 years ago that was intentionally murdered. That was a hard one to deal with.
This one is still hard, mostly because it could have been avoided, but it's not my first time losing someone like this. It's just those mixed emotions of sadness and anger that can be hard to deal with.
*big hugs*
It's terrible that a misunderstanding and lack of communication ended the way it did. So sorry!
Holy crap. This reminds of Apples' story. Thank god hers turned out different.
I can't believe it was a fatal shot. Such a sad, horrible story.
He shot him FIVE times!!! Not just once!!
And this was after he saw him in there once already not being a threat and unarmed. I can understand protecting your rights and such, but this was just over the top and unnecessary. Of course, who knows what that guy was thinking at the time, it sounds like the gun laws are on his side.
I just wish people wouldn't put themselves in such crappy situations, but what can you do. You can't tell people when they are acting like idiots, and sometimes you don't get a second chance to learn a lesson.
That is so eerie! I'm so sorry you lost your friend. So senseless and devastating.
*hugs*
W T F!?
ok, I am going to calm down. . .
