Think summer! Where do you camp?
Hey Ladies,
We go on a family camping trip every year and haven't really found the "right" place. Our criteria is: modern bathrooms, electric, on the water, within 3 hours of detroit area. Can you help me out and give me some options??
Thanks!!! Think 80 degrees!!!!
Re: Think summer! Where do you camp?
Not sure how much water you want to be on, but we love the Pinery in
Grand Bend, Ontario (not too far from Port Huron)
It's on the Old Ausable Channel

The Pinery in Grand Bend Ontario. It's on Lake Huron and also the Old Aussable River runs through it. You'll need passports to cross the border, anyone under the age of 15 just needs a birth certificate.

We go up to Caseville to Port Crescent State Park. It's awesome, they have a really nice beach right on Lake Huron.
Another one we've been to that has a nice lake is Wilson State Park in Harrison, I think that's right about 3 hours from us.
You can't really go wrong with the state parks, I've found they always have pretty nice facilities.

Is this true? Because I would love to go but DD#1 has no passport, and it won't be easy to get her one.
Yes it's true. I have a cottage in Canada so I travel there quite often. Your child would only need a valid birth certificate to cross the border and anyone over 15 would need a passport or an enhanced driver's license.

We love Young State Park in Boyne City! It's on Lake Charlevoix, which gets warmer much faster than the Great Lakes, so very nice for swimming. It's a modern campground, quite, and family friendly.
