Best lite-weight vacuum for hardwood floors?

We have hardwoods in our new house, just on the second floor.  I'm still shocked at the dust bunny buildup around furniture legs and mouldings, I guess I never noticed it with carpetted bedrooms.

I'm looking for a small vacuum to keep in an upstairs linen closet for every other day vacuuming.  Swiffer pads aren't cutting it.

Thanks!

  • I use a Bissell PowerEdge Pet and I love it. Do you have pets? There's also the regular Bissell PowerEdge. The regular one has bristles on it and the pet one doesn't so that the cat or dog hair doesn't just get caught on all the bristles and carried around the house. I've had it for a few months and it works great. It works WAY better than my broom ever did!

  • I have the Bissel Lift-Off and absolutely love it!  It will bend to fit under tables and chairs and has a detachable hand vac. It's super lightweight too.
  • Thanks!  I'll check out these Bissels!

I second the PowerEdge. I'm surprised how well it works!

    Happiest place on Earth!

  • I did a lot of research before purchasing a hardwood floor vacuum and finally decided on the Hoover LiNX.  I ended up getting mine on sale for about $100 at Sears and love it.  It doesn't lose suction as the battery starts to die and lasts about  4x longer than any other cordless vacuums.
