What a stressful day! DH and I work for a large entertainment company and we just found out that our show is closing in 2 weeks! This means that we have at maximum 7 weeks left of work. It also means that we have about 8 weeks total left here. Due to government restrictions, once our work permits are cancelled, we have 10 days to leave the country! So much to do! I am feeling a little overwhelmed.
A couple of questions:
Has anyone used any pet relocation services and would you recommend them? We have one domestic short-haired kitten.
Can anyone recommend to use or avoid any international shipping companies?
Any information would be helpful! TIA!

When I moved to Australia from the US, I called Allied International and arranged a move in just under 4 weeks, including the holiday season. I had no problems at all, they came and packed everything up and when it arrived in Australia, at the beginning of the quoted 70-120 days, the movers unpacked everything and took away the packing materials. They requested that I inspect everything as they unpacked it so I could report any damage before the movers left. It was not cheap, but I think it was one of the best decisions I have made.
Good luck with your move!
I can?t help with the pets part, but definitely look up your moving companies on the BBB website to make sure that they are still members in good standing. And google moving scams to find the names of companies to stay away from. I wish I had....but fortunately the company I used is out of business and I got my furniture back.
We used ParAir for Beijing to London. If you look on their website they have a list of partner providers in Asia. Also, we had to quarantine them for a short time in China just to get them out of China, you should look into similar laws in Macau, just in case.
And will your cat have to be quarantined when you get to the states? Our cat and dog were quarantined for 6 months when they arrived in the UK from China.
I still come out with a long string of disjointed profanity when I think about the cost of all that - and my pets aren't even freaking grateful! The cat bitches at us CONSTANTLY like a minion of Satan and the dog, while coming for a car ride to pick me up from work, puked all over me in the car - TWO DAYS IN A ROW! No more car rides for you you pukey bastard!
Chronically hilarious - you'll split your stitches!

We are moving from Macau back to Canada (for now). At least until we figure out what we are going to do for work etc.
Fortunately as far as Canada goes, it doesn't sound like our kitten will subject to any quarantine laws. Just the long flight back and airports! I was just thinking that one of the pet relocation companies may make it a little easier as they do this a lot. I did think about her travelling in the cabin of the plane, but I'll have to look into the airline requirements. She is also a very meow-y cat. It may be disruptive to the other passengers. Things to add to the list I suppose!
I will definitely look into the BBB for moving companies. We have quite a few that I have seen moving people around town. It is just crazy to think that I need one so soon! We had looked into it a couple of years ago so I know approx. how much it is going to cost, but it all seems very surreal so far!
Thanks for all the tips!
