first school "friends" party invite

So, Connor got his first invite to a bday party for a school friend.

Its a Chuck E Cheese.

Forgive me for sounding stupid, but, I stay right? I mean, I don't drop him off and go back for him at this age do I?

And, for a school friend, whats an appropriate amount to spend on a gift?

Re: first school "friends" party invite

  • I would stay.

    $20-$25 would be appropriate.

  • Awwwwww! Yes, you'll want to stay. And I agree $20 - $25 is good.
  • I agree with all PP.  I would definitely stay...I have been to a bunch of my nephew's parties where the moms don't and my SIL was not happy.

And I agree on the amount too!

  • my nephew just turned 7 and had his party at chuck e cheese.  there was about 20 kids and about 4 of the parents dropped their kids off and asked when they should come back.  even at age 7 we thought that was ridiculous.  definitely stay.  that place is a zoo on the weekend.  they do stamp the kid/ parents hand so they cant leave with anyone else.  but when we were there they were so busy when we left that they didnt even check.  also they dont make an announcement when its food time, so unless the party parent recognizes your kid (my bro and SIL didnt know some of my nephew's school friends) he could miss food, cake, etc.  plus some of the games he would probably need your help.  most of the gifts he got cost about $25.
