so I can't drink caffiene anymore?
im soooo dizzy. not vertigo dizzy. i just had a huge cup of "breakfast blend" coffee like 1.5 hours ago. jittery, wobbly - I can't type or read well without getting dizzy again. I've been avoiding caffeine as much as I can the past 2-3 weeks so I thought i'd treat myself today. im not nauseous. I don't feel "sick" aside from these symptoms. Tell me its just a bad caffine reaction and I'm not gonna faint is 2 mintues! have you had caffine reactions this bad?
Re: so I can't drink caffiene anymore?
blech - ok - i feel like I'm improving now. It was a big cup and I kinda chugged it.
stupid body needs to over react to everything I do!
did you eat anything?
my read shelf:
I did! ugh. but now I'm starving again so I'll eat/drink asap.
yes, caffeine can do that to you (vertigo, jitteriness, etc.)
To be all nerdy, the reason caffeine can cause vertigo is the same reason alcohol can cause vertigo. It throws off the balance of sodium/potassium fluids in the inner ear. The fluid in the middle channel of the ear essentially gets thicker and heavier than it should be, and it weighs down the basilar membrane in the labyrinth (in the hearing part of the ear, too... some people also get tinnitus, or ringing ears, from caffeine), which stimulates the cells, so the brain gets the message that you're turning, when you're not. The brain has to sort through the messages from your ear (you're turning) and from your eyes and muscles (you're not turning), and this mixed message = vertigo.
Told ya I'm nerdy.
thats cool, tlc!! It helps me to know stuff like that since I can get fairly panicy when I get dizzy and its easy for my to feel nauseous or have mild anxiety attacks (or both) simply from worrying about the dizziness. I kinda turn into an instant train wreck.
oh, and I feel 100% now. Good thing my liver still works!
