Re: POLL: Vanity Surgery

  • My gut reaction is a "hell no" ... but if I really think about it, I could. Especially if I had 3 or 4 kids and was able to maintain this healthier weight - - I could so get a tummy tuck to reward my self.

  • If I lose some weight and get fit I totally intend on getting a boob lift in 3-5 years.  I'm not looking to add size, but I really would like to be able to not wear a bra around the house sometimes.

  • Nothing to my face, but my body is a different story.
  • I voted that I would, but it might just be because it's all fantasy thinking since I will likely never have the money for something like that without having a million other more important things to spend it on.  When it came down to it, I might chicken out.  But, my fantasy thoughts are that I would definitely want a boob & belly restructuring after I was done with having babies.  That, and some sort of fat removal of the under the chin/jaw area since I've always had what is lovingly referred to in my family as "jowls," even when I was 120 lbs.

  • Oh, yes I would. I fully intend to have my boobs lifted after kids. I would love to get them done now.

That's whats so fun about polls. :)

Honestly, I may want it, but I doubt I will ever really get it.

  • I totally want a breast lift after we're all done having kids... and I could see myself getting a face lift later in life if I don't hold up how I had hoped.  My mom has the type of chin line that gets jowls and she wants to get a lifestyle lift procedure, and I'm all for it.

  • Before going through this jaw surgery - I probably would have said "Sure!! Boob lift would be awesome!"

After going through this last week of being put under, spending the night in the hospital, swelling, meds, pain, laying around, feeling worn out...  I voted for "no" just because I don't like how I feel recovering even though the outcome would be/is totally worth it.

Maybe that's just my medication talking. :-)

  • When done having kids and nursing, my boobs could use some lift..
  • I fully plan to get a boob job some day after kids. I've never had boobs, so it's actually something I've been thinking about doing for a long time. I've also thought about getting a nose job because I've always hated my nose, but never actually looked into it.

  • If you had asked me 10 years ago, I would have said no way.  Now, I'm more open to the idea.

  • Droopy eyelids run in my family, and I can see that I will have them. I will 100% get an eye lift if this happens. I'm not sure about anything else. My boobs maybe, after kids. It would really depend how I feel about them. Currently I'm really against vanity boobs (for myself) but who knows how I will feel after kids. I feel like vanity boobs send the wrong message to kids, more so than other vanity surgeries. Like, you aren't sexy unless you have big/perky boobs. That feeling mostly applies to pre kid boobs though. I hate that girls think small boobs aren't okay.

  • I'd definitely do the chin lift thing - my dad and grandma both have the jowls going on, and if the same thing happens to me, I'd want to fix it.

Also, I have a "little tooth". The tooth just to the right of my 2 front teeth is a little smaller than the one on the other side because the root died before it finished developing. I have a root canal in it, and even though no one ever notices it, it drives me crazy. I'm doing a consultation in a couple weeks with my dentist to get a veneer put on it.

And I don't know if this really counts as "vanity" but it's definitely elective - I'm planning to get LASIK. My consultation with the surgeon is on Monday, and I'll schedule the surgery from there.

  • If someone gave me money to get it done, I'd probably do a boob lift after kids.

I really want some skin resurfacing stuff done too. I have sun spots, fine lines, and acne scars. I'm pretty self-concious about it.

  • I'd like to get a tummy tuck once I reach my goal weight cause the twins really did a number on my stomach with all the stretching of skin!!  I'm not a fan of the surgery and recovery, so we'll see when the time comes.

And Trickey - did both these polls come from the text convo from earlier today??  Thinking yes cause I mentioned both things....lol

Droopy eyelids run in my family too :(. I'm blessed with the start of them already & at the moment it's the one vanity surgery I'd go for.

  • Probably not. I'm not sure I'd be willing to go through the recovery from surgery for purely cosmetic purposes. I also don't think I'd be willing to spend the money either.

  • I said no.  I had a breast reduction (same procedure as a lift vis-a-vie incisions/recovery) about 9 years ago for health issues (sever back pain).  If post-babies, they are large enough to cause issues, I will have it done again.  I would never go through it again simply for the cosmetics.
  • I would, but I would have a hard time justifying the money spent.
