FL - Universal to Clearwater

Hi everyone,

One of my gfs & I are planning a long weekend trip to FL. We were planning on flying into Orlando & doing Universal Studios for the day and then heading to Clearwater Beach where we'll be staying for Phillies spring training. (We'll be flying home out of Tampa.) Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to travel from Universal Studios to Clearwater? Bus, rent a car, train? We'll both have luggage that we'll need to worry about carrying with us too. Thanks!!

Re: FL - Universal to Clearwater

  • Rent a car. I'd get it in Orlando, drive to Universal (I think parking is very easy) and then to Clearwater. You'll need it in Clearwater to get to the games, any where else you want to go and then the airport in Tampa to fly out and drop off the car.

Exactly what I would do.  Florida is not know for its great public transportation so renting a car is a must.

This is what I would do too. Parking at Universal is $15, just a FYI. You will definitely need a car in Clearwater to get around. Have a great time! I will be in Clearwater in April. Can't wait!

  • I'd echo the rental car too, since parking is usually free at the hotels in Clearwater. You should probably double check that though! H and I are going for spring training in March too :)
