taxes question!

I have a sales rep job and manage a territory. For this job I went and purchased a vehicle. I also have mileage everyday that I am not getting paid for, they pay me after the first 60 miles.

So I have been hearing from co-workers I can claim the 60 miles daily and my car. Is this correct?

TIA

Stephanie

  • The ladies here are pretty smart, so they may be able to help you, but I would also recommend xping to Tax Talk, just in case.

    Um, DTMFA?

    I think counseling would help.

  • irs.gov should be able to answer any questions you have. If not, I would suggest talking to a CPA. You might be able to deduct your mileage but I'd be very surprised if you could deduct your car.

Yep. From my experience you can usually deduct X as long as you use it for solely business.  We can't really claim part of the mortgage on H's home office because he uses the space to play video games and his drums after hours, for instance... though even if we were to claim it, the standard deduct gets us more cash anyway.

A baby is a great tax deduction.

  • Glad to see the snarkyness is still alive...
