this is the most disturbing thing i've read in a long time

A teen from Missouri got life in prison for killing a 9y/o "bc she wanted to know what it felt like to kill someone."

WTF.

this makes my skin crawl:

"I strangled them and slit their throat and stabbed them now they're dead," Bustamante wrote in her diary, which was read in court by a handwriting expert. "I don't know how to feel atm. It was ahmazing. As soon as you get over the 'ohmygawd I can't do this' feeling, it's pretty enjoyable. I'm kinda nervous and shaky though right now. Kay, I gotta go to church now...lol."

  • I would be in prison for killing her, if it were my daughter that she did that to. Disgusting!

  • how sickening! Im kinda wondering how her parents didnt realize that she was psychotic enough to do something like that though, there had to be some kind of sign. im glad she got life though, too many minors get away with that kind of thing too often nowadays.

The article says that her father was incarcerated and her mother abandoned her.  She was living with her grandmother.  Sounds like no one was close enough or cared enough to notice.  On the one hand, her actions sound textbook sociopathic.  On the other hand, the fact that they had her on a high dose of anti-depressants and that they had adjusted her dose right before the crime is concerning.  Anti-depressants have very different side effects in someone as young as 15.  The mind is so complex and mental illness is so difficult to diagnose and treat.  That being said, I'm certainly not disappointed that she received the sentence she received.
