how much water do you drink?

How many ounces or glasses of water do you drink a day?

I am trying really hard to drink more water normally I get in 8-10 cups a day. I still don't know if its considered "enough" but I am afraid if I drink anymore I will have to move my desk to the bathroom.

Re: how much water do you drink?

  • Pre-PG I was drinking 5x750 mL of water (so, about 120 oz) while at work, and then more, but not measured, at home.

Now it's more like 3x750 mL (my water bottle is 750 mL = 24 oz) plus more at home.

I can say that in my experience, when you're ramping up your water intake, you'll go through a period where you have to pee a lot, but then it often levels out and becomes more manageable.  PrePG I probably hit the bathroom up once ever hour-hour and a half.

  • I drink somewhere around six cups a day. I have recently talked to a urologist though and he actually said that the "daily recommended amount" is too high and that you should drink what you are comfortable drinking. (somewhere between 5 and 10 cups a day)

  • I would say I generally drink 70-80 oz per day. My water bottle is 18oz. I drink 3 of those at work and another 1+ at home.
  • About 64 oz, or 2 l.  I have a 32 oz mug I keep on my desk.  I fill it when I arrive and finish it by lunchtime.  Repeat in the afternoon.  Plus 24 oz or so of coffee.

To me, that sounds like a load of crap.  5-10 cups is not a lot at all.

I've heard that the amount of water you need to drink is the amount it takes to make your pee very pale yellow to clear by the afternoon.

Also?  For anyone at all interested in weight loss, water is key.  The less water you drink the more your body holds on to.  The more water you drink the easier it is for your body to balance electrolytes.

  • Not nearly enough.  I'm lucky if I get 16 oz.  I have to make a concerted effort to do better.

  • I drink at least 1.5 L (approx. 50 oz.) while at work and probably 20+ oz. more when I get home.  I really try to stay hydrated because I get horrible headaches if I don't.

  • I have a 26oz bottle at work, and I typically refill it about 3-4 times a day, so anywhere from 78-104oz during the day. When I'm at home, I usually have (2) 16oz cups too. I've always been a big water drinker, and it's only increased since getting KU. I feel like I'm thirsty ALL the time.

  • A lot.  150 oz at least.

  • I usually drink at least a liter and a half. Enough that someday I bet my coworkers think I have a bladder issue.

  • I probably go through 8 cups at work and another 4 or so at home. Honestly, I only drink water - no juice/milk/soda. The only non-water stuff I have is coffee or tea.

I just wanted to clarify that he said "What you are comfortable drinking". The main thing he said was that I shouldn't drink so much I feel sick, I think it has something to do with putting to much stress on your bladder. I drink about six to 8 cups (1.5 liters) have lovely clear pee, and I am comfortable drinking that amount.

  • I generally drink quite a bit. When I was PG, I couldn't. It gave me such bad heart burn to even drink water. I am now always thirsty, so I chug glasses. I don't really sip like I'm sure I should. I usually drink 3 or 4 glasses just while cooking dinner and eating it. Then I drink another 1 or 2 before I go to bed. No idea what the ounces amount to, but that's fine by me. I don't feel the need to keep track.

  • A lot--- typically between 150-250 ounces a day... But like kaesha, it's all I drink anymore. I really think that it has been the key to my weight loss success... And like rates said, the frequency of the bathroom runs has died off.  My family was actually harassing me last night about how much water I drink!  I have heard that a good rule of thumb is to drink at least half of your body weight in ounces (if you weigh 170 lbs, dink at least 85 ounces) each day. I drink more, but I hought that was an interesting rule of thumb.

  • I drink about 80 ounces at work and another 16 to 32 at home. I agree that after a while your body gets used to drinking so much and you don't have to go as often.
