Yesterday at work, I was inexplicably freezing all day. I was all excited to get home and crank up the furnace and space heaters until I was sweating.
Well, I got home to find a note plastered to our front door. The basic summary of said note was "hey, so uh, we were out doing some maintenance and cut your power lines by accident. Duh, stupid us! Sorry 'bout the no power and stuff!" No power all night. Get in the house, 58 degrees. Shared the bed, complete with cats who normally refuse to sleep in the bed, under about eight thousand blankets, with a snoring H and a snoring toddler. Woke up this morning (on time, shockingly) to the house being 48 degrees. Took lukewarm shower in the dark, couldn't blow dry my hair so my hair looks terrible today, and picked out my clothes in the dark. Surprisingly, everything matches. I should also mention that this morning was one of the coldest mornings so far this year (5 whole degrees outside).
Normally I don't look forward to coming to work, but today I did. H is off today and plans to take the kiddo over to his parents' until the power comes back on. Why we didn't go over there to sleep last night I don't know. Frozen brain was incapable of thinking, maybe.
Needless to say, H will be calling the power company to ask about a credit on our account, since they killed our power and just left a stupid note, leaving us to freeze overnight.

I'd be all over their case and tell them that if a pipe freezes THEY will be paying for repairs and damages!
Oh. Crap. I didn't even think of that. I hope H remembered to turn off the water.
