Non Pregnant Bellies Want to Know...

I'm not pregnant (yet), but I'm always curious about the pregnancy experiences of people that I know, so:

What's the best part of being pregnant so far?

What about the worst?

What's one thing that you wish someone would have told you about pregnancy?

Any funny/weird/unexpected cravings so far?

What are you looking forward to (other than an amazing new baby) after birth?

How has being pregnant changed the dynamic of your marriage?

Sorry if these are repeats from any Momy-to-Be check-ins and/or polls (I haven't been stalking nearly as much as I should).

Re: Non Pregnant Bellies Want to Know...

  • What's the best part of being pregnant so far? Feeling little baby kicks, and seeing her yawn on an ultrasound. Most amazing thing to watch

What about the worst? Pregnancy has not been easy on me, at all so I have a lot of "worst" lol. I really hate not being able to enjoy food, I also have horrible sciatic pain, and of course, peeing 2,000 times a day is annoying.

What's one thing that you wish someone would have told you about pregnancy? Even though you really really want to be pregnant and have a healthy baby, it's ok to complain and be miserable. Pregnancy can suck.

Any funny/weird/unexpected cravings so far? Right now, I am really loving queso and sour things...at the same time. The other week I was definitely dipping sour patch kids into the jarred queso. MH thought I was insane, and disgusting.

What are you looking forward to (other than an amazing new baby) after birth? Going for a run! And then coming home to a box of wine. lol

How has being pregnant changed the dynamic of your marriage? Most of our conversations revolve around baby. That can be frustrating. Also, we have lost some intimacy. I am not allowed to have sex, so that makes it hard sometimes. H is being a trooper but I know he is counting down the days until Dr clears me/us.

I promise it is not all awful. re-reading that makes me sound like a pessimistic b!tch. Don't get me wrong, it is hard. However, I love this little girl so so much already. And I am willing to put up with anything and do anything for her. I just wanted to be realistic. All of my IRL friends make pregnancy sound like rainbows and candy.

  • What's the best part of being pregnant so far?

I'm being more kind to myself. Napping or resting when I'm tired. Not stressing over food. Also, we saw our baby today at our ultrasound and it was the coolest thing in the world to actually see it in there, with its heartbeat flickering. There's nothing like it in the world knowing there's a little heart beating in there.

    What about the worst?

Gas pains are horrible. They're like sharp cramps all over my stomach, ute and lower back. I hold it all in until I get home so the end of the work day gets very uncomfortable. I also miss eating anything. I am always hungry yet don't want to eat anything. Also, (tmi) I miss pooping regularly.

What's one thing that you wish someone would have told you about pregnancy?

Not to worry so much in the 1st trimester. There's not much in your control.

    Any funny/weird/unexpected cravings so far?

Not really. I've only been able to stomach carb-heavy stuff like pasta, pizza, mac 'n cheese the past few days. The first 2 weeks I was eating anything and everything.

What are you looking forward to (other than an amazing new baby) after birth?

I'm excited to breastfeed. I've been doing a lot of reading on it. I know it could be a big challenge, but it's one I look forward to, being able to nourish and bond with baby.

How has being pregnant changed the dynamic of your marriage?

We're more gentle with each other. I am a bit of a fiery spirit so I'm trying to be more patient and not quick to anger over dumb stuff. It's brought us closer.

  • Non-baby related, after birth I am looking forward to lattes and a big glass of cabernet.
  • What's the best part of being pregnant so far? Feeling the differences in my stomach. I can't sleep on my stomach anymore because it just feels too weird.

What about the worst? Dealing with my body image issues. I can remember being as young as 7 and feeling fat. Looking back, I was never overweight, but it's something I think about all of the time. I've always been up and down with my weight +/- 10 pounds, but I've always been able to just start counting calories and working out. Yesterday, my pants felt tight for the first time, and my automatic reaction is to feel like I'm getting fat. It's hard to disassociate those feelings, but I'm hoping once I have a "real" belly, I'll feel better about it.

What's one thing that you wish someone would have told you about pregnancy?  That you honestly need to look into daycare super early.

Any funny/weird/unexpected cravings so far? Nothing too strange, but I have been having these weird thoughts about cream cheese. We're trying to empty out or fridge, so we don't have much. The other night I was looking around, and I saw some old (really old, we should probably throw them out) grahm crackers. I wondered if we had cream cheese that I could dip them in. Tonight, I ate some poppers, and I looked at the coating and thought it would be yummy to have battered and fried cream cheese haha.

What are you looking forward to (other than an amazing new baby) after birth? I'm looking forward to really working out, as well as lots of lattes and some wine. Just thinking about both coffee and alcohol make me want to puke.

How has being pregnant changed the dynamic of your marriage?

We're not as intimate anymore. I'm just so exhausted and uncomfortable, and that makes it difficult to be in the mood. DH has a super high sex drive, and mine is just "ok" normally, so that's been tough.

Sorry if these are repeats from any Momy-to-Be check-ins and/or polls (I haven't been stalking nearly as much as I should).
