Good New Wednesday!

Who has something good to share?

I'm leaving work at 2 today for an eye doctor appt and not going back afterwards!  My mom is meeting me to help pick out new glasses and then we're going shopping.  I'm really excited for new glasses but sad to say goodbye to my old ones that I've had since 2003.

I have a date tomorrow and a date on Friday.

I decided to start a blog.  I miss blogging (shut down my one about my old life and the dog blog).  I need help with names--"Not A Jersey Girl" was already taken--thoughts?

Re: Good New Wednesday!

  • I have been super productive today and cleaned the closet, the bedroom, bathroom, toilet, and living room. Planning on continuing  with the cleaning and also to do some grocery shopping. Being productive feels sooooo good!

  • We are over the halfway point for the week <-- great news!

Other good news: DH and I ordered the couples version of the 'un-game' to prompt us to connect with one another. We were feeling a bit distant since we've both been travelling so much recently. This is the longest we've been in one place together since the end of November.

Re: blog: What about 'Not just another Jersey girl'? or 'not your usual Jersey girl' to go off your theme?

  • I went to a postnatal class and met some other mums today.

I have a pilates class tomorrow night and I'm really looking forward to starting it again and hope it gives me the boost I need to start getting back in shape.

  • DH had his first interview yesterday with the company he used to work for. It will be a 10 min commute for him and a $5K raise if he gets it. We are crossing fingers for a callback.

I am rubbish at naming blogs though sorry. I like ooolalalolo's suggestions though.

  • I?ve made some serious progress on my two translations and am beginning to pick up some speed again. And oddly enough I?m liking the technical one more than the one about model trains...

  • My Valentine's Day present (to myself) arrived today!

Shiny new watch... I had my eye on it for a while but didn't really think it was worth the splurge... H talked me into it, thus I'm justifying it by calling it a V-Day present.  It's beautiful and I'm looking forward to wearing it sometime soon (it's dressier than I'd normally wear).

More importantly, today's the last day of my sister's first round of cancer treatment.  That doesn't sound like good news, I know.  But the good news part is that she's halfway done and so far so good-- she's in good spirits, gained some weight (which is a very good thing for her and will help her in round #2), and hasn't had too many negative side effects 3mos into things.  Round 2 will be tough, but as she says, the sooner she starts, the sooner she's done and, hopefully, back to normal/healthy/fabulous!

  • I started some new meds yesterday and other than a bit of nausea my hair hasn't fallen out, I haven't turned yellow and despite my paranoia my eyeball remains firmly placed inside its' socket. So that counts as good news, right????

    Right?

Chronically hilarious - you'll split your stitches!
I wrote a book! Bucket list CHECK!
  • Good to hear your sister is doing well Va! Continued vibes to her!

  • So here is a feel good story for you.  My husband has a co-worker with two school aged children and a husband dying of lou gehrig's disease.  He is not doing well and the woman is trying to juggle going to work, her children, and a dying husband.  Husband's group banded together and went to HR and told them they wanted to do something to help - could they please each donate a week of their own vacation to co-worker so she wouldn't have to worry about taking time off.  There are over 20 people in my husband's group and they are all donating a week.

That made me cry a little.

That's a beautiful story. FIL died of Lou Gherig's in October. Fortunately, he was diagnosed at an older age. I can't imagine being a young parent. It's great to know there are such supportive and generous people in the world.
