We found out last night that a friend of ours got engaged a few days ago. She is from NJ, but her FI is from Israel. His whole family lives there. They are possibly thinking of getting married in Israel. We have traveled to Spain and Brazil for weddings. I would love to go to Israel, but I just feel it isn't safe. My parents wanted to take me when I was 13 for my Bat Mitzvah, but I was scared then. I'm not even thinking of any logistics, just the thought of going scares me. What do you think??
Re: Would you go?
That was my thought too, I would be unsettled the whole trip. The whole thing is hypothetical right now. They could end up getting married in NJ for all we know. LOL. They have been engaged for like only a few days. Just wondering if any body else thought the same thing I did.
I wouldn't go because I don't have an overwhelming desire to visit there, so the risk far outweighs the reward. Frank's aunt and cousin went last year and really enjoyed their trip.
But obviously, YOU have to be comfortable with it - you'd be the one going!

Yeah I don't know much in Hebrew, I didn't do well in Hebrew school. LOL!
I agree. I have always wanted to visit. My entire family has been at different times and it is an absolute MUST on my bucket list. And you do not need to speak Hebrew there.
Not a newbie, but, had to create a new account - formerly LBR_NJ

its a country i would love to visit. but i would have to see how things play out over the next 6 months.
If you can afford to, go. I honestly felt safer there than I feel in some parts of the US. There's military presence everywhere you go. Even when off-duty at clubs, soldiers have Uzis strapped to their backs (at least, that's how it was when I was there right after Rabin's assassination). My brother just spent a full year there and never had any issues on that, or any of his many previous trips, for that matter.
GO!
i love to travel, love it love it. BUT no, Isreal, though somewhere I'd love to go, it's not somewhere I feel safe going right now. Especially with the recent news of a possible standoff between Iran and Isreal and bombs. Tourist areas are often targets for attack. especially American tourists. I would be hesitant to go right now.
Yes, that is what I was worried about. Ehh I might be getting my panties in bunch about nothing. Who knows where they will end up getting married. It was just a hypothetical situation.
