VT/MA/NY getaway?

DH and I are on vacation in a week, and we want to do a quick night or 2 away for Valentine's Day.  We would like a place that is relaxing, no cities please.

We went to a B&B last winter break and hated it.  We want a place that is cozy without being creepy, if that makes sense.  I will happily take suggestions, and if I am being too picky, tell me to stay home :-)

Re: VT/MA/NY getaway?

  • Why didn't you like the B&B?

  • I know B&B are big over there... maybe there is a more modern one with a day spa that's less creepy?

  • I've been to Stowe, VT and loved it.

  • My vote is for a ski lodge with a hot tub.

    I love it!

  • If you are able to do some good research, check out Craigslist in our area and go to "vacation rentals".  Lots of folks have their 2nd or vacation homes for weekly or daily rental.
  • Of course I'm biased, but the area where we used to live, The Berkshires, is really beautiful in the winter. There's lots to do if there is snow (skiing at Butternut, snowshoeing, etc) and there are nice little villages with restaurants and shops and galleries, etc. It's an easy 80 minute drive from Saratoga and I'd recommend staying at this BEAUTIFUL old historic inn, The Red Lion Inn, in Stockbridge

    Just my two cents

EDIT: Now that I re-read your post, I think you'd LOVE the Red Lion- it is quaint and cozy and adorable without being creepy. It's a sleepy little town also, so very relaxing! If you decide you're interested, just let me know and I can give you other recommendations
