Someone posted child pornography (the real deal apparently) to The Bump Community Board photos. If you look on any board from yesterday there is a locked post from Bump Kathleen that notifies users. There is no indication that they were photoshopped Bumpie kids.
There's no information as to whether it was someone's idea of a (truly sick) joke or who posted them or why they were posted. The cluckity cluck cluck is that this is a reminder that anyone can be trolling these boards, including pedophiles. Whether or not you have your kids in your sig pic is likely to become the new Bump measure of whether or not you love your children or are a crappy parent, for at least a few weeks.
An interesting point was raised on ML that anyone can look at your kids at anytime anywhere (IRL, on the street), including creepsters, so what's the difference about having a pic on here....
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
I was thinking about this yesterday actually. I think that on the interwebz, a photo of your kid could be manipulated and used for deviant purposes. Whereas on the street, it's less likely that a random stranger would be taking photos of your kid. Not impossible, but less likely. At least with sig pics, you have some sort of control over what you put out there.
Does that make sense? I swear it does in my head.
Honestly nothing would surprise me anymore.
I'm all for whatever makes people feel comfortable, the thought of someone jerking it to your kid is unspeakable.
My concern is that the bump won't do what they should do out of concern for their image... all of the "hey omg did you see this?" threads from when people started noticing the pictures were deleted yesterday. The message said they were "investigating" and I sure hope that doesn't mean by themselves.
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
Sing it, sister.
Legally they have to report it to the police, no? The pictures involved someones kid, from this site or not.
They do mention "the authorities" in their email. I couldn't take Em out of my siggy if I tried. I still don't have access to my siggy. Been waiting on the Nest IT for that for about a year now.
I would email them again and tell them that in light of the recent issues you want access immediately. I'd hope that they'd be willing to at least try to make people happy in that way. This may not be their fault but it happened on their site so they are responsible.
And even if they are not legally required to report it (which they may be... I am not sure) they should ... unless people took screenshots of the images on their computers (which is odd) no one else has any proof or way to get the information needed to find out who did it. As much CSI as I watch, I am pretty sure that I would not be able to crack this one.
