s/o Let's talk Top Chef (spoilers)

baker mentioned it in the Say Anything post below.  Thoughts on this season?

I always love this show, though I don't know if they'll ever have a season again that tops the one with the Voltaggio brothers.  Everyone that season seemed so over-the-top qualified and talented.

I was sad that Ed left last night.  Every time someone uses canned or pre-made stuff, they go home.  He should have known better and changed his menu.

Bev...ugh.  I am definitely not Team Bev.  I do think she's been bullied a bit this season and that Heather was a total b!tch to her, but I also find her incredibly annoying and totally understand why people don't like her.  I'm annoyed that she's now in the final four.

I really wanted Nyesha to win the Last Chance Kitchen. She went waaaay to early and it was bullsh!t that she got eliminated in the first place over that team challenge.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Yup, I think I agree with your entire post.  Nyesha got totally screwed on her elimination and I was really really hoping she would get back in it.  She is the kind of contestant that Last Chance Kitchen is meant for.  If they do another All Stars season I hope she comes back.

I liked that they brought the mentors in for the challenge last night.  I think I even preferred it over when the family members came last year.  It was really interesting and sweet.

I think this season has had too many ridiculous challenges, with hundreds of people to cook for on zero hours of sleep, etc.  I like it when they just cook food in a kitchen and do something awesome, rather than mass produce a piece of junk.  Meh.

I'm rooting for Paul to win.  I will be shocked if he doesn't.

  • I pretty much agree with all your additional points too, baker :)

I'm always ranting to DH (who thinks I'm crazy to care about such things but is also used to it) that it's stupid they make them do these dumb challenges that have nothing to do with cooking.  Like the blindfold thing?  Or on All Stars when they had to catch their own fish?  C'mon, that doesn't say anything about your ability to cook!

I, too, thought it was crazy that there were multiple all-nighter challenges this season.  That just sucks.

I want Paul to win too!  But, really, anyone but Bev would be OK with me.

  • And it was like one billion degrees in Texas this summer and they had them outside A LOT.  Awful.  I know the heat was unprecedented, but still.  It's summer in Texas.

I don't mind the gimmicks as much for the quickfires.  I feel like they are less important and more for fun and showing what you can do under crazy restraints.  The elimination challenges are a different story.

True.  But the fishing one was for an elimination challenge!  Luckily they all caught something but I don't know what would have happened if someone got unlucky.
