Couple's Dinner (Veg & carnivore friendly)

Husband and I are total foodies, but: Me: vegetarian. Husband: pescetarian

The couple we're having over for dinner are meat & potato, non-adventurous wine-os.

What's the best compromise for a nice dinner? Italian Food?

Re: Couple's Dinner (Veg & carnivore friendly)

  • I'm going to answer this from my "meat and potatoes" brother's perspective. No.

I would not expect a vegetarian to cook meat, but since your husband is pescatarian maybe do a squash or mushroom lasagna and a seafood one.  Or a fish main with one of the lasagnas as a side/main.

That salad sounds a little meh, it's lettuce and a dressing.  I'm sure it's a decent dressing, but I like stuff in my salads.  That could just be my family though.  We've been accused of having too many toppings.

  • I would LOVE what you're cooking. That said, borning meat and potatoes eaters probably won't eat either butternut squash or mushrooms. Those are considered "weird" vegetables by many in the meat and potatoes set.
  • what about shrimp tacos...with various toppings including some hefty ones you can eat like avocado, beans, rice
