Re: HIMYM 2/6 WTF?

i feel we are no closer to learning who barney is marrying and how ted meets the mom at the wedding. doesn't this show end next year?
there was a flashback (flashfoward?) in an earlier episode to Lilly giving birth and Marshall is not there...curious what is all around that too.
This show just needs to end already. It was amazing for the first few seasons but now it is just stupid. There's just no point to most of the episodes anymore, and it's getting way too dramatic and not funny at all.
This sounds mean, but I thought Lily looked horrible this episode. I get that she is pregnant and they were trying to make her look tired, but seriously, she looked like she was sick/just got out of bed...put a little lipgloss on her or something!
I'm at the point now that I don't really even care who the mother is anymore.
Horrible episode. They really need to wrap this up ASAP.
Agreed. Whoever's styling her and Robin is doing an awful job.
Also, why has Lily been so big throughout her early pregnancy? Is this supposed to be a callback to how all the Erikson babies are gigantic, or (what I'm thinking is the likelier possibility) do the writers/stylists just not know WTF they're doing?
I'm thinking it's the latter, because when she found out she was having a boy, she was like 5 minutes pregnant with basically no belly.
I didn't know Alyson Hannigan was pregnant again, so maybe some of that belly is her own (can't remember how far along she is, and I don't know when all the taping took place).
Plus Marshall showed his boss a baby-looking ultrasound when she was, what, 7 weeks along? Meaning, the ultrasound looked like a full-grown baby (recognizable head, facial features) instead of a little blob floating around in the uterus.
Seriously, doesn't this show have any parents as writers? If nothing else, Alyson Hannigan and Cobie Smulders have given birth, and NPH had kids through a surrogate, so at least THEY should know enough to step in and say, "Um, guys, pregnancy doesn't really work that way."
I know I've been in the minority this season, still enjoying the episodes and not being bothered by the pregnancy timeline, but even I thought this was a really boring episode. I liked the concept, but I can't believe that they couldn't come up with some better story lines. It's like they ran out of jokes so they were just thinking up any old random idea.
Also, did Marshall and Lily sell their apartment? I recently watched a rerun of the episode that they bought it and narrator Ted made it sound like it was such a bad idea that would affect them for a long time. I at least expected for that to come back around.
Maybe my problem is that lately the writer's are having a hard time connecting the past, present, and future like they used to which made me love this show in the first place.
I have a feeling this has a lot to do with it. Since this was her a month ago:
And she's due in May - when Lily will be having her baby (just in time for sweeps).
I wrote about how horrible HIMYM is about a month ago in here and got FLAMED. But, apparently, it's acceptable now, so here goes:
Haven't watched (sorta off/on) in 2 seasons. The writing has turned to shate and it is draaaaaaaaaaaaaggggging out longer than Miley on that penis cake.
As a Friends-for-lifer, I was so happy when I started watching HIMYM, but can't handle anymore. I am a Happy Endings girl now and am very happy. Thank-you-very-much.
Anyone else switch to HE? Just funny banter/friends hanign' out.
Sorry if this is mean... I think another thing that bothers me is that Allyson and Cobie look so bloated, old, and ugly, a less extreme version of the Christina Aguilera/Britney Spears phenomenon. I can't concentrate on the episode because I am thinking, "Are they fatter and rather ugly-looking, or is it just me?"
(Obviously, I would not say this or think this about someone IRL, but they ARE in the very shallow entertainment industry, a visual medium, so I feel like it's ok to note.)
Maybe it's just the way they're being shot. I notice it to a lesser extent with Kaley on Big Bang.
ETA: I feel so mean for noticing this and then posting it. Sorry!!! However, Iit's no worse than what's said about Christina, who is way more talented imo than the ladies noted above.
Well, the show has been on for 7 years. I know 7 years ago, I looked alot more fresh than I do these days. Pre-marriage, pre-kids, pre-30s... I think to make them look exactly the same and style them to look younger is just not realistic. Like Rachel and Monica on Friends. When the show started, they were so pretty and fresh-faced, and by the end of the series they were looking tired and a little "hag"ish. I do hate how shaggy Robin has been looking though. Do something with her hair already! Look at how bad Marshall looks now compared to the first season. He looks like he has aged twice as much as everyone else. And can we PLEASE give Ted a new haircut?
I don't think it is so much a "phenomenon" as it is just age. Christina and Britney were teenagers when they started out. Now they are in their 30s, have had kids, and have gone through alot of things (divorces etc). No woman in their 30s is rocking the same body as when they were 16. And if they say otherwise, they are a tad delusional.
