I'm sure I say this on here every Valentine's Day, but I laugh so hard when I see VD for Valentine's Day. ANYWAY...
What the heck are you all doing for VD? Has this already been discussed?
Us:
We have a gift card for Outback, so we are going there on Monday (to avoid the rush). I'm kind of excited. This will be the first time we've celebrated VD with Tman. I mean, we always get him a little gift, but this is the first time, he's going out on our VD "date." It feels special.
We bought a TV after Christmas agreeing to not buy VD gifts for each other, but James said he was thinking about getting me something (something specific he had in mind, not just thinking that he might think of something). So, now I feel like I should get him at least a little something.
I think I'm going to make him a card. I know that's super cheesy, but I can never find a card that says exactly what I want to say. This year, that message is: You still zing me with your touch after 7.5 years of marriage, and I truly feel more love for you than ever before, etc.
Man, I'm gross!

Re: VD
D made reservations at the Met, which I am both happy about (cause I really want steak) and kind of sad about (cause I have been not so much hinting but saying blatantly I really like Mistral Kitchen or would love to try Staple and Fancy).
Still, he made the reservations back in December so who am I to complain? XD At least he 1) remembered and 2) showed initiative in planning so far in advance.
DH and I will be going to dinner at Lunchbox Laboratory. We like to keep VD simple, but with greasy bad-for-you foods. I noticed that LL will be hosting a VD Haters - Singles Party that night, but it's kept to one section of the restaurant, so hopefully their love-hateraid can stay away!
ETA: The only gifts we really exchange are store bought desserts/candy that we don't normally "splurge" on.

I think I'm going to tell DH that I don't want flowers or anything else for VD, but that I want some more of our china set. Right now our 5 piece place setting set is on sale for buy one get one free.

ETA: we have $60 in gift cards and with the extra % off code we wouldn't pay much more than $60 for 2 sets.

My Blog
We're going to keep it pretty low key this year. DH mentioned wanting to get me something, but I threw out the idea of taking what we would spend on gifts and putting it toward a little ski getaway or something. He liked that idea, so we are tentatively going away in a couple weeks for a couple nights in Leavenworth/Wenatchee and skiing at Stevens and Mission Ridge. Assuming the snow conditions are good.
But for actual v-day, I'm going to be out with the girls I mentor since it's our usual night to meet. They wanted to dress up and go see a chick flick, so we'll do that. It's a work night anyways, so not going on a late date night won't be a big deal. I'm planning to make H a special dinner Saturday night, open some good wine, do the things that good wine leads to, and call it our vday for the time being.

we rarely celebrate but this year saw the special the melting pot is having and decided to make reservations.
we don't do gifts - H's birthday was this past Monday and my birthday is the 18th so that's a lot of February presents, so we typically skip VD presents.
We are probably having dinner at home and for DH's gift I'm making his favorite pie- lemon meringue.
I asked for flowers and my favorite candy from See's. Milk chocolate bordeaux. We enjoy laid back Valentine Days.

I'm kinda hoping that I'll be working.
We don't really celebrate, but we may go out to dinner this weekend. I'm also picking up trophy cupcakes this weekend too.. mostly because I have to use a groupon before it expires.
but also, it'll be nice to have something sweet to eat. i wanted to make something but this is probably better.
i wish h would give me flowers.. but we'll see.
I've requested DH take me to get an egg white omolete with caribou sausage, cheese and jalapeno peppers for breakfast at my favorite cafe in Anchorage on my way to the airport.
He has to stay in AK for the rest of the week, so we won't be doing anything otherwise.

this is me and h *every* year.
i think making him a card is fine.. i was going to show you what i pinned on pinterest, and planned on making for my H, but i can't find i!! but it's basically a glass-photo-frame, with a patterned piece of paper behind it that says "i love you because....." and a dry erase marker. you can put it on the dresser, bathroom, nightstand, etc, and write on it/change it everyday.
if i'm not lazy, i'm going to make that. something simple, won't cost more than a few bucks. i think that's fair, if he's going to give you a gift, and you agreed not to get anything.
