...that just baffle you?
My coworker does and I just don't get it. Like, she never learns from her mistakes and I think she just has more money than sense sometimes. Let's call her Jen. Jen heard from other teammate that someone got a tattoo at Wooster st. Social Club (basically TLC's Miami Ink of NYC).
She was all "ooooh, I've so wanted to go there". Ok, maybe she did. She does have other tattoos. Within a week she was there and dropped like $300 or so on a very small tattoo on her arm. She loved it.
This was November? The other day she had a Doctor appt to get it lasered off, as well as one on her foot she doesn't like anymore. Cost to remove each? $900. Not her first laser removal either.
Yet, she still gets tattoos? LIke, what? Don't you think she'd learn to just not get a tattoo on such a whim? I mean, that's $2,100 on tattoos (or lack thereof) since November!
In case it's relevant, she's not young and stupid and being rebellious. She's 37.
Anyone else?
Re: Poll: Do you have friends that make impulsive decisions....
She also makes other impulse decisions for all kinds of things. A few years ago, she bought & traded-in 4 different vehicles in a year's time because she kept seeing different ones that she liked better then the one she had. She's tough to keep up with, that's for sure, but for the most part, her decisions tend to be positive in the end (like signing up for a marathon on a whim, joining a gym, going on vacation, etc). She seriously will just hear about something, decide she likes the idea, and then immediately do it.

Wow Naylon, that is crazy!
I don't have any that extreme, but Emma's story reminded me a lot of my brother's ex-wife. She impulsively decided to quit her job to go back to school, and then couldn't decide what she wanted to major in so she only took one class. Quit her job to go to class 3 hours a week.
My husband's sister is also pretty bad...I think thats why they have no money. She's my age and her and her bf (fiance? Baby daddy? Who the hell knows) still live with DH's parents, but she'll go on vacations, get tattoos, go shopping, etc. I don't know where her money goes, but its not rent. She will always talk about how broke she is. The other day we were asking if she still had her xbox and she said she sold it because she needed money, but she thinks she'll buy another one with her tax refund so she can get the kinect. In the next breath she's talking about owing money to DH's parents for a loan they made to her. Ugh.
Whaaaat?! That's just crazy!
I have a person in my life who is sort of like that. She has access to unlimited funds for her whims, so I think that plays a major role in this. She can never seem to make up her mind about anything.
For instance, she attended 3 universities in 4 years' time, always trading in roommates because of issues (never because of her, of course.) Then she went to law school. Ok, cool. Except when she finished she didn't want to do that anymore (what a waste, IMO) partly because she had issues with someone higher up. So she went back to school for art and started working at a museum (ok fine.) Except that didn't work out, because she and the curator had issues. Oh well, I guess? (more wasted education...) So she decides to get in on the restaurant business and helps open a new market. Great, I'm thinking... maybe this is her niche! Except that didn't work out because... can you guess? Issues with the owner.
She is always coming up with these hairbrained ideas on how she's going to make it big... like a vodka company, a hair salon, travel blogging, a Birchbox type company for traveling women, oh the list goes on. None of them ever come to fruition. Currently she's "freelance writing" and traveling whenever she feels like it on someone else's dime. The latest hairbrained plan is to study the wine business out in California. That sounds great, if you are the kind of person who will act on it once you are done... to me, it just sounds like another waste of $$$.
She falls madly in love with ideas and people, and 2 minutes later she is done with them.... easily seen in her laundry list of discarded BFF's and boyfriends she was SOSURE she was going to marry. It's frustrating because I do think she is an incredibly smart and talented person, but she just can't seem to get her shiit together and quit it with the impulsive ideas that turn out to be worth nothing.
Yup. She started with an old beat-up Jeep that was her college car, then she got a Cavalier. Then she decided she wanted something bigger and better, and with a hatchback, so she got a Volvo v70. Then she decided that it was too "old lady" looking (which it totally was), and she traded it in on a Jeep Liberty. She had that for about 4 months and it started having random electrical problems, so she traded that in for a new Subaru Impreza, which she still has 2-3 years later. I don't even want to think about how much money must have been lost in all the trade-ins. Phew!
