Canada girls re: currency
so I have a Canada bank that sends me checks in Canada currency
when I cashed one at the bank they told me to watch the currency because sometimes the amount will be more then USD
so I have a new check and I'm stalking the bank site to see when currency goes up
my question how often does it go up?
and do you guys wait to come here and purchase things on days currency is up?
Re: Canada girls re: currency
Yeah, right now it's at about par, and it has been hovering around there for the couple years or so give or take 4 cents either way. But when it does go above par, that is when I buy more USD.
I am about an hour from the border, so I go quite often just for the day and in the past 2 years have only been called in 2x and that was b/c I had alcohol, but usually they only charge tax (5%). I haven't had to pay duty in forever! That is just luck of the draw though. Sometime they have you pay both duty and tax, but since everything is so much cheaper in the US anyway, you still save money. We bought everything to finish our basement down there. From drywall to paint and saved about $5000 in total.
