My school was on the news
A 2nd grade student from my school escaped an abduction at the local Wal-mart yesterday while she was out with strep throat. The Atlanta news stations did interviews at the school today, and our counselor did a phone interview with Vinnie Politan on HLN this afternoon. Here are 2 links:

Re: My school was on the news
Same here! I watched the video just a couple of hours ago. I didn't click the links, but does anyone know where the heck her parents were? I would *never* leave my kids alone in public, especially that young.
If this is the same thing I heard about on the Today show this morning, they said the parents were in the next aisle. I thought the girl on the today show was even younger though, like 4? I was getting ready for work, so I may have misheard.
Her mom had been in the next aisle but said she was going to get some strawberries and had asked the child to come with her. The little girl said she wanted to look at the toys a bit longer, so mom left her. They speculate that the man was listening to their conversation and waited for mom to walk off.
A neat side note: The state trooper that pulled the man over and arrested him less than an hour later is the husband of one of our special education teachers. It was so scary to hear about this, and the poor thing still has a fever with her strep throat
