I read a series of books as I kid that I LOVED. I still think about them to this day. I found the series hard bound in one book last night on Amazon. Would it be totally silly of me to buy it now and stick it back for our future children? Right now it would go live in my box of things of our kids.
Its the three stories of My Father's Dragon.

Re: Thoughts?
I would do it. Not to mention, you may like to have them to re read for yourself if you're feeling nostalgic one day.
If my mom had done something like that, I would have loved it. I'm a major bookworm thanks to her--she used to take me to the library when I was 2-3 years old every afternoon and read with me.
Not silly.
I am putting books on our baby registry and I can't wait to read Stone Soup and Where the Sidewalk Ends to my kids.
Nope, not silly. :-)
We are kind of doing the same thing. I have a ton of books from childhood that I have saved for my phantom future children. I even go through them from time to time. They are still fun to read.
True story: I occasionally buy stuff for my theoretical children when I come across something I just cannot pass up.
I did this when I was a teenager living at home too. I would randomly buy things for when I got my own place. It was really nice when I moved out and already had all this awesome stuff.

I would do it! I have the Little House on the Prairie series from when I was a kid, and they'll be there for my kids.
Confession: I still read them every-so-often; they make me happy.
I changed my name
Love Stone Soup. And there was also one perhaps named "I'll love you forever"?
I have seen this my opinion is flameful on some circles on TN and TB, but I think that book is creep-tastic. The mom drags a ladder to her adult child's house, breaks in and cuddles him in bed?? Bad boundaries. She's why I have a job.
I changed my name
I bought A light in the Attic and Where the Side Walk Ends so I could read it to my kids. H thought I was nuts when I started reading the poems to him.
Sorry it creeps you out. I loved that book as a kid and I totally want one to read to my kid.
Originally I wanted to put a bunch of books on my registry but now I'm having second thoughts because I read somewhere that the registry is intended for things the kid needs during the first year of life and most of the books I want are for older kids. The registry that I haven't even made yet is stressing me out six ways to Sunday.
Yes yes yes! I still have my copy from childhood and will keep it forever. I love that book! Saggy Baggy Elephant is a must for me too.
