Apparently my name sucks...

I was bored lastnight on TB.

I asked for thoughts on the name Emily Heather on the Baby Names board.

Results = I'm overused, dated and boring.  Smile

  • I like the name Emily. Smile

I don't think I'll be asking any opinions outside of DH when I have this responsibility.

I like the name Emily and I do not think it is overused - especially paired with Heather (I think Heather is moving into the less commonly used names). That board is only accepting of a handful of names paired with the middle name Grace. Unfortunately too many people have validated their list of acceptable names to get a true broad spectrum of opinions.

Connor's name was kept a secret (with the exception of the hospital staff) until about an hour after he was born as we didn't call anyone until then.  Everyone else hated that we didn't tell them, but I didn't want their opinions and I didn't want anyone to influence or have a say in his name except Matt and me.

Ditto this... I think I shared that S was at the top of the list with Claire... but absolutely no one else. Not even our parents.

Anyway, I think they refer to "Heather" as dated...  but it's pretty Smile. Emily is classic in my opinion.

  • Oh that board.  I don't even bother with what they say on there.  I actually can't stand 100% of the names they approve of.  I'm going to go the route of keeping the name hush hush.  I've mentioned two names to my family and they don't like them at all so rather than deal with that and their disapproval I think we'll just keep it to ourselves.

  • My sister and my MIL kept telling me how much they didn't like the name Levi.  MIL kept suggesting names up until I was due.  I just kept saying "That's a nice name, but we're sticking with Levi."

My original pick was Logan, but DH vetoed it.

  • I wouldn't use Heather as a first name even if it wasn't my name :).  Too many 80s things associated with it.  The famous actress turned porn star who happened to have the same maiden name as me and of course the movie, The Heathers. Of course, Heather Locklear isn't bad. :)  I'm not a fan of Emily mainly b/c my coworker named her daughter that and they both are total brats. I do like the name, though.

  • I do like the name, it's a good classic name.  I'm not the biggest fan of Jennifer but my dad named me and he loves the name so I've accepted it.  Like Heather said it's a total 80's name and it was really popular.

JT and I leaning towards classic names because some of the names lately are sort of strange, not that any of you ladies are in that category.

  • Who cares what they think. They are some rude beeches anyway.. They tried to blast me for Emma grace because it was too popular and I pretty much told them to shove it. Oh they also hated Reid and if you notice tons of ppl are using Reid now.. I like Emily Heather.
