Gallbladder support group (lol) Alise, Laura, anyone else

Well all my tests are negative -- so went to my doctor again. She's sure its my gallbladder (specifically biliary colic (?)), and doesn't know why tests are negative. Have a referral to a GI doctor for further tests and pain meds for now.

And you?

Re: Gallbladder support group (lol) Alise, Laura, anyone else

  • I just got home from my meeting with the surgeon. They moved it up. My surgery to remove my gallbladder is is tentaviley scheduled for Friday. Ill get final word tomorrow when they call. He will only be doing one incision by my belly button, the surgery will be abojt 40 minutes and I get to go home after.

  • The surgeon went into detail about how it all works and whats considered emergency and im pretty sure what uou said is an emergency situation. Im hoping I dont get an attack before Friday.

  • Yeah, I hate the constant fear of pain -- however, I don't think any of my attacks have been nearly as bad as your's. I'm just in constant achey pain with occasional bouts of sharp shooting pain -- now up my neck and shoulder. Of course after being poked and prodded once again today it is hurting.

  • Ugh that really stinks! I wish for you that they could get it figured out!

I had my u/s for the Gall Bladder this morning so my Dr. should have gotten the results this afternoon still haven't heard anything so I'll wait until tomorrow morning to call and see what they say.

In the mean time I'm on this strict diet. Pretty much avoiding eating protein with starches, and if I eat starches only with veggies. I was also told to avoid all caffeine, onions, cabbage(broccoli, cauliflower etc.), corn, pork, eggs, spicy foods, fatty/greasy foods - so no deep fat fried.

  • Maria - my GI doctor told me that sometimes the tests come back negative if you only have occasional bouts rather than a constant issue. Have you had a HIDA scan yet? That was what finally diagnosed me after everything else was negative or inconclusive.

I hope all of you get your issues resolved soon. Gallbladder issues are awful. :(

Laura - good luck with your surgery! Mine did wonders for me.

Yes I had a HIDA with CCK and it came back normal. My doctor was flabbergasted. Said it wasn't even borderline. She is hoping the GI doctor can do a test with a scope that will show the problem.

    LOL..

Not sure what's up with it.. I think Maria and Laura both had problems with it for a while, but now that I came out and said something, they've both come out that they've struggled with it for a while.

I really hope you do.. I've heard from others who have had it removed that they still need to be super careful with what they eat, and that they struggle with it for years afterwards yet. GL!

  • Mine didn't show up on any tests or anything either. They ended up just going in there and taking it... sure enough it was bad!
