Help me match dresses to events

We have 4 weddings this summer and I told Mark I'd only buy one dress (or pair of shoes) since I have so much in my closet already. I'm trying to figure out what to match with what so I know what to buy.

We've got:
- 2 beach weddings
- 1 country club wedding
- 1 wedding at an art gallery/theater place
- 1 semi-formal rehearsal dinner (for the art/theater wedding)

Here's what's in my closet:

image
Pink dress, lands just above the knee

Orange dress

Pastel flowers

Black one-shoulder

LDB

LBD w/belt (same dress, just belted)

Black and white (there are subtle polka dots on the white)

The dress I bought for the wake. I like it, but there are def some negative associations right now.

Halter dress (I always feel like halter tops look weird on me)

Purple floor-length

Teal floor-length

And the shoes: black pumps, nude pumps, black sandles w/a silver heel, brown peep-toe pumps

So, what would you wear to what and what would you buy for?

Exactly what I was thinking! Unless you feel the country club or art gallery ones are more formal and require a floor length dress, I'd go with Laura's match up. Also you are so adorable and look awesome in all the dresses! I'm so jealous of your style! :)

  • Assuming the art gallery wedding is a formal event, the long strapless black for the wedding itself.

For the country club wedding, the pencil dress with the white top/black bottom (which is my favorite dress up there!) or the first one.

For the beach weddings, I like the first two.

I don't know about the rehearsal dinner, though.

  • I don't think the gallery/theater wedding is going to be formal. They're more of a party crowd. I know they're going to have an ice luge for shots...
  • Ditto Laura, and I like the silver heel shoes!

  • I looove the long dresses, you look amazing in the dark one but would it be too formal for the most formal event?

I love the yellow flowers for the beach.

I like the pink one too... maybe that one for the art gallery thing...

Is the country club a day wedding or night wedding? If it's day, I'd recommend one of the other short dreses with flowers, either the orange or the hatler. I love halter dresses so I think it's super cute. If it's evening... hmmm, not sure... again, I'd wonder if one of the long dresses wasn't too formal. It might be in California... our weddings tend to be more casual, I think... so... anyway, my favorites are the two long ones and the pastel flowers and the pink one. :)

I agree - Art Gallery for sure!

    Orange dress - Beach wedding

Black one-shoulder- I LOVE this dress, I'd wear it for the country club wedding (plus you have the body to totally rock it)

Black and white - love this one too I'd wear it for the rehearsal

Then I'd just kind of keep my eye out and maybe get another dress for the other beach wedding (or wear one of the other flower patterned ones).  Or if you don't find a dress get a great new pair of shoes.  I think you have a lot to work with and don't really *have* to buy anything new.  I have started making myself reuse the dresses I have because I have so many!
