Valentine's idea for my MIL?

We just want to shower her with some extra love this V-day, but I don't have any ideas.  She doesn't like having flowers in the house (she couldn't when FIL was alive because of his breathing issues, and they just remind her that he is gone) so that option is out.

She wants to lose weight, so I'd like to avoid food.

Maybe a date night with DH?  Dinner and a movie?

Or any ideas for a sweet gift?

  • Maybe you guys can go on a spa day together (hello, massages!) and then she can head out for the evening with your DH, or you both can.

This may not work if she's not the spa type, though....

Does she need anything done around the house?  Painting, repairs, cleaning, maybe stuff she coudln't do while taking care of your FIL?

DH and his cousins are doing a lot of house projects, and her sister has been staying with her all month, cleaning, etc.  So that stuff is covered.

I do think she'd like a pedicure-she talks about them on occasion! Good idea.

  • how about an edible arrangement? A small bit of fruit isn't unhealthy
  • I agree with spa pampering, either a pedi or a facial or something.  :)  You are such a sweet DIL!

  • I think the gift of time (date night) might be something she'd really like.  I imagine she's lonely and mommas always love to spend time with their sons!
