Not sure if this is the right board, but I have a question about a rental situation.
My sister is renting an apartment currently. A couple weeks ago, a pipe burst and the apartment flooded. All the management company did was dry the apartment out and repaint the closet where the pipe burst. They didn't replace the carpet or anything.
Now the closet carpet is still wet and the paint is bubbling where they repainted it. She told them about this and they sent someone in to do a moisture test when she wasn't there. She also had someone come out and do a moisture test. The results from these two moisture tests are completely different. The complex's test shows no moisture, but the one my sister had done showed that there was moisture. So, to sum it up, the complex is stating that they won't fix the carpet or the bubbling wall.
What actions can she take to ensure that the closet gets fixed properly? If they don't fix the apartment, what other actions can she take?

Keep copies of everything. The tests, the communications. If they talk via phone, write down every detail and date it.
ETA: Sorry, not much help. I was in a similar situation with mold where the LL denied the problem, then refused to fix it. In the end, they blamed US for the mold and tried to sue us for damages! Just document document document so you can CYA.

My other sister and I have been researching all morning and she found some pretty bad reviews about this complex WRT mold and them blaming the tenants and refusing to give them their deposit back. Wish we would have done that before she moved in! But I had a friend who lived there and didn't have issues.
This happened to us with a pipe in the ceiling in our living room. They did replace our carpet padding and completely cleaned the carpet. I still photodocumented everything.
She should contact an attorney.
