Does anyone have suggestions for books or other resources on this topic?
A few people have metioned that the 4 month check-up is when their doctor has mentioned starting cereal and/or other solids and I'm just not on board with that. I'd like to learn more about BLW for when the time comes.
Also, I'd love to hear any personal experiences.

and a few other websites, I am going to skip dry cereal all together, I think it's a waste of space in her belly with no nutritional value, If she seems ready I may try a mix of pureed stuff and doing things the BLW finger-foods way. I'm just going to take her lead, she'll let me know when she's ready for solid food I'm sure.
I looked at the site that Angel posted and I bought the book. I actually brought it into daycare yesterday as another mom was asking about it.
I had intentions of doing BLW and read a lot about it but Abe didn't pick up on it like I pictured in my head. At meal times I would still offer him large pieces of food (a hunk of apple, a slice of toast, etc.) but I also had homemade baby food ready for him. I never made his food super smooth because I didn't want him to get used to one smooth consistency...I wanted to keep him on his toes. Daycare told me yesterday that out of the babies in the room he is best at not gagging and choking and they think it is because he was always given food with chunks so he knows how to deal with them.
A large part of the time he ate what we were eating. If we had fish and sweet potatoes then I would mash it all up for him. One time we had gnocchi with veggies and threw it all in the food processor and he loved it.
We skipped rice cereal because, in my opinion, it is empty calories and just filler. I milled oats and added some breast milk and sometimes banana.

I went the same route as Brianne with milled oats, since Will has had some issues with being "bound up", I didn't want to bother with rice cereal that would only cause him to back up more. We were given the green light to intro @ 4months, but I held out until 6 since there didn't seem to be any need to start that early for him.
A friend of mine pointed me to the Wholesome Baby Food website (http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/index.htm) and for the most part I've loosely followed their advice/recommendations for BLW. At this point, he LOVES avocado, sweet potatoes, pears and bananas (in moderation!). He adores oatmeal still too, so I mix it with small chunks of roasted sweet potatoes in the morning for breakfast, and then will give him chunked up other stuff for lunch or dinner, depending on how hungry he is. We sort of do a mix of BLW and feeding him, but other than the oatmeal, we just use our hands as well so he's catching on to the concept. I'm still nursing, so I'll offer food after we nurse and that way he's not starving and won't get frustrated. Overall, it's been a great experience so far, and he's having a lot of fun exploring textures and flavors.
