I've been tracking my migraines recently and I've noticed that the day before a migraine hits I have altered vision in the eye on the side where the migraine will be. This morning I noticed my right eye is funky, which means I'm due for a migraine on that side of my head tomorrow.
I don't have any pain yet, but I took some OTC meds this morning in an attempt to ward off what's coming. The eye "funkiness" it still there, though.
Does it make sense to take my Rx meds before I get any actual pain? Those suckers cost me over $2 a pill so I try to only use them when my usual OTC meds and caffeine aren't cutting it.
Tomorrow K is going to my parent's house for an overnight and we really need this time together. I don't want to be laid up with a migraine.
Thoughts?
Re: Migraine sufferers, question for you
So if you get the eye thing, too, and you take your meds as soon as you feel the weirdness in your eye does it prevent the migraine? I've never caught it this early before since I just realized the connection.
I'll try the ice pack when I get home. Thanks!
The ice pack trick works really well for me when I feel one coming on. Good luck and I hope you feel better:)
what meds do you use for migraines? If it is a triptan (imitrex, relpax, zomig, treximet, etc) it's good to try and NOT take it unless necessary.... b/c taking them too often can = rebound migraines. it's a nasty trap I often get in.
I try to avoid a migraine by taking 4 advil or Excedrine RIGHT when i feel one coming on... like- when I just feel spacy and annoyed by sounds/light/smell... but once I feel pain I need to take my Rx meds (I take Replax)
just an fyi - excedrine is the same as excedrine migraine - just marketed differently... I buy the generic - works just as well.
I'm thinking of getting botox for prevention b/c i have been getting them almost daily lately - and it sucks.
