Things to Do in Rockland with 2 month old?
My husband and I have been couped up in the house with our newborn for 2 months, and we're ready to venture out. We can't think of what to do, though, since it's still February. What did you mothers do to keep yourselves busy? We would like to go out to eat, but we're petrified of our daughter having a crying spell and ruining other people's meals. I'd love to hear your experiences. Thanks!
Re: Things to Do in Rockland with 2 month old?
choose a place to eat that is child friendly and has somewhat fast service - like a diner or a food court or panera. it's easier to cut a meal short if necessary.
walk around a store or the mall. you don't have to buy anything, but it gets your out of the house.
we always walk around the mall. lately we've gone to paramus garden state plaza because its more walking and stores plus a different scene. there are a few library programs that offer baby times for 2+ mo.
we take A out to eat every Saturday night after church. we go to a local pub/restaurant who accomadate us with the stroller. its nice to go out and eat as a family.
Libraries. Malls. We would eat out at diners, and food courts and restaurants all the time. It is NOW that it is a pain to go out because his attention, and throwing food around. Though he decided last week for wings to take his food and sit with 2 teen boys at their table. He wouldn't come back to us and they thought it was funny. I let him finish his wing and take him back. Thankfully we know everyone who works there too. Applebees also but not during prime dinner time.
Hi, I am trying to start a baby playgroup, aiming for Fridays around noon. I live near the Galleria mall in Middletown. If you don't think it's too far, you are more than welcome to come.
The cold weather is really getting to us too. I am a sahm and getting serious cabin fever. Luckily the mall is right here and I try to get there once a week. I go during the daytime and just make sure LO had a nice big bottle before walking out the door. He usually sleeps in the stroller or when he is awake, has been looking at all the high ceilings, people and lights. I am a big bargain hunter so I go scour all the clearance racks. Sad, but just power walking around the mall with a diet pepsi is entertaining to me at this point.
If you are unsure about how your LO will "behave", I'd recommend going out one weeknight to a food court. They are usually dead, and you can find a little table off to the side and sit as long as you want without worrying about fast service. Although I think it's really sweet that you worried about bothering other people. We just went to Texas Roadhouse last weekend and sat next to a screaming infant for 2 hours. The parents could care less she was screaming and to be honest I was a little annoyed because we had wanted and "adult night' out and made arrangements for a babysitter. Maybe next time we will just order take out
My baby is 2 months old and weve been out and about since she was a week+. We go to the mall, BJs, lunch, carters, target- we do a lot of shopping but its hard when the weather is still crappy- even though its been nice. I dont let people touch the baby and other than a few weird old ladies no one has tried to hold or touch her.I try to get out at minimum 2x a week or else Id go bonkers.
I pack her up in her carseat and we either take the stroller or put the carseat in the cart or I use a baby carrier. I try to changer her diaper and feed her just before we leave and shes good to go for at least 3 hours.
As for restaurants we aim for local, loud and kid friendly- Diners are awesome because its not fancy or expensive and no one cares if there is a crying kid.
I also try to meet up with friends for lunch or dinner. And we take walks daily as long as its not below freezing or bad weather. Its good for me, the baby and the dog.
Get out and socialize!
