DH and I bought a condo-townhouse and moved in on November 3rd. The condo fees for November were taken care of by the previous owner, and we were told the condo company would contact us to set up payment for future months. December rolled around: nothing. In January we got in the mail what looked like a general information update they sent to all the people on my street. I emailed them the information they requested. A couple weeks later we got a notice of a slight increase in the condo fees and saying people could set up direct payments if they wished. At this point, I realized maybe they want us to contact them to set up the payments, so I emailed them and got a response saying exactly what I needed to do. I successfully got them the information they needed and they took the condo fees for February. Then yesturday we got a letter in the mail dated February 6th saying this was our final notice and they were starting lien proceedings because we failed to pay the December and January condo fees. If we don't get them the two months fees plus $100 in admin fees by the 16th, the lien will take effect.I called them right away and of course it was after hours so I left a message to call DH today. I really hope they call him and can work this out.

Re: Need to vent (long)
They called DH and he was awesome and worked it out. We still have until the 16th to pay the two months condo fees, but DH was able to talk them out of us having to pay the extra $100 eventhough they said that was our penelty for not contacting them soon enough. So all I have to do is get a certified cheque tomorrow and then mail it off and pray it gets there in time (online it says Canada post delivers within two business days within town so I should be fine). But I'm still kind-of ticked-off at them. At least we got it all sorted.
