Can you use a rice cooker for other things?
Can you use a rice cooker to cook....
beans? oats? barley? quinoa? anything else?
Anyone try this? I've always debated getting a rice cooker, but could never justify it because we don't eat that much rice.
Also, I've made brown rice before but it always feels tough and undercooked. Would a rice cooker help with that?

Re: Can you use a rice cooker for other things?
I've used it for quinoa the same way you make rice. There are rice cookers that have multiple settings. I have the Aroma multicooker, and it makes white rice, brown rice, steams, and is also a slow cooker. it was like $30 at costco, and I've used the slow cooker function a few times already.

I need to get one of these....My brown rice is always too firm for my liking and seems like a good way to steam veggies!
Great topic!
