4 month old sleeping question

A goes to sleep around 7PM and wakes up once to eat and then back to sleep till around 5 or 6.  I know this is great for her age and I'm really lucky.  However, the waking up to feed her is going to be rough now that I am going back to work and I'm spoiled since L was sleeping 12 hours a night straight through by 3.5 months.  What time does your baby go to sleep at night?  I keep getting advice to try to keep her up later so that I don't have to wake up to feed her but I can't seem to get her to stay up past 7, she is exhausted by that point and just has to go to sleep.  I enjoy my free evenings so I'm OK with her going to bed at 7 but just looking to see what other babies do at this age.

Thanks

Re: 4 month old sleeping question

  • If I remember correctly at that age J was going to bed around 6 and getting up between 11-12 to nurse (EBF) and then again around 3 or 4.  Once he hit six months and started solids I started to cut out the night feedings.
  • 7 sounds exactly what both my kids did at that age (and for a long time after). I wouldn't try to keep her up later if she's tired...If she's sleeping this well now, I don't think it will be more than a month before she's STTN. Hang in there!

  • That sounds heavenly. We're at 9-ish here and getting up twice a night for an hour or more. Teagan was a dream, at this age it was 10-5 straight through. She didn't do 7-6 straight through until she started daycare t 5 months.

  • M is going to be 5 months next week and he goes to bed at 7. It's about 50/50 as to whether or not he wakes up for a feeding or not. If so, it's usually between 1 and 3...if not, he will go to around 7. If your baby is following the pattern mine did, that night feeding might be gone soon!

  • Thank you all!  Your responses are all really helpful to me.  I was trying to get a feel for the timing and where this was going although with the little ones you never know ;)  Thanks!
