Re: Friday Five!
1. What's a film, adapted from a book you liked, that was as good as (or better than) the book? The Chronicles of Narnia. I tried reading some of the stories a while ago and just couldn't get into them, but I love love love all the movies.
2. If they could invent a remote control for something in your house that doesn't have one, what would you wish it to be? My dog. Some times he just needs a pause button
3. What business establishment's recent closing was most disappointing to you and why? Max and Erma's. The ones in our town closed because the owners didn't pay their rent. My H loves that place and I loved the fresh baked made to order cookies.
4. When you feel a case of the blues coming on, what do you do to fend off the bad feelings? Try to find something to keep my self busy, like going outside, baking, etc. If I sit around I will start to emotional eat and that doesn't help with the blues so much when you start to feel fat as well.
5. Plans for the weekend? Actually doing the painting we said we would do last weekend, taking my charm bracelet to Tiffany so they can send if off to get my new charm soldered on (H bought me a little teddy bear charm to celebrate our baby), organizing the nursery and packing my hospital bag and nursing bra shopping. I'll also probably start cleaning every surface in the house and continue that routine for the next 5 weeks :P
1. What's a film, adapted from a book you liked, that was as good as (or better than) the book? I really loved Devil Wears Prada
2. If they could invent a remote control for something in your house that doesn't have one, what would you wish it to be? An auto cleaner....something to take the dust and grime off the floors lol. I'm pretty good about cleaning surfaces like counters and all that but the floors are a project.
3. What business establishment's recent closing was most disappointing to you and why? Hmmmm there was a Boarders in my mom's town that was so convenient to get to and pick up gifts and whatnot. Oh also not so much a closing but this amazing Italian Deli that was up the block from us moved across town so we can't walk to it anymore
4. When you feel a case of the blues coming on, what do you do to fend off the bad feelings? Listen to great music or watch a funny TV show.
5. Plans for the weekend? Heading to queens for dinner at Jon's uncles Saturday and out for v-day dinner Sunday night.
1. What's a film, adapted from a book you liked, that was as good as (or better than) the book? One for the Money (we just saw it, so it's fresh in my mind!)
2. If they could invent a remote control for something in your house that doesn't have one, what would you wish it to be? The dog
3. What business establishment's recent closing was most disappointing to you and why? Hmm...I can't think of any off the top of my head
4. When you feel a case of the blues coming on, what do you do to fend off the bad feelings? I used to eat...but I'm trying to get out of that. Yesterday I took a mental health day b/c I've been SUPER stressed this week and it worked wonders.
5. Plans for the weekend? Tonight going to a party at my BIL/SIL's house...other than that, I don't really have any other plans!

April Nesties March siggy challenge: Next Vacation, Anguilla!!
1. What's a film, adapted from a book you liked, that was as good as (or better than) the book? Not sure that I would say better, but I think they did a good job with the Harry Potter movies.
2. If they could invent a remote control for something in your house that doesn't have one, what would you wish it to be? Laundry - especially moving things from the washer to the dryer and folding them.
3. What business establishment's recent closing was most disappointing to you and why? The Barnes & Noble nearby closed end of last year, so there are now no bookstores anywhere remotely close to me (unless you count NYC). Granted I have a Kindle, but I was looking forward to shopping for baby/childrens books and now I have nowhere to get them.
4. When you feel a case of the blues coming on, what do you do to fend off the bad feelings? I try to get out of the house, whether it's taking a walk, going out to dinner, shopping - anything to be moving.
5. Plans for the weekend? Our full day childbirth class is tomorrow. Other than that, no plans! Although we're toying with going to the Nets game tomorrow night.
1. What's a film, adapted from a book you liked, that was as good as (or better than) the book? I REALLY like Game of Thrones on HBO - the books are good BUT now that i am approaching the end of book 4 it's getting harder to stay hooked...
2. If they could invent a remote control for something in your house that doesn't have one, what would you wish it to be? The dog. Mute. Off. LOL
3. What business establishment's recent closing was most disappointing to you and why? Yeah i'd have to agree w/ Borders in our local mall...
4. When you feel a case of the blues coming on, what do you do to fend off the bad feelings? Well, I used to resort to a form of herbal relaxation... but now... not so much...
5. Plans for the weekend? date night tonight! dinner and a movie! tomorrow - freaking snow is screwing up my plans for a relaxing day w/ Sami as he has it off. Then out for Sami's bday! We are doing hibachi/sushi and then bowling! I"ve rounded up a ton of his friends for going out and it's not a surprise so he's fairly excited too. Sunday I have to photograph a bridal show and that's about it!
Have a great weekend!
9 Glorious Months!
My Photography Blog!
1. What's a film, adapted from a book you liked, that was as good as (or better than) the book? I don't read a whole lot of books before movies so I really can't comment.
2. If they could invent a remote control for something in your house that doesn't have one, what would you wish it to be? Cooking. If I could push a remote button and have food magically appear, freshly cooked, I'd be happy!
3. What business establishment's recent closing was most disappointing to you and why? Quiznos. I miss their pickles!
4. When you feel a case of the blues coming on, what do you do to fend off the bad feelings? Hanging around my animals. They do some funny stuff and always make me smile!
5. Plans for the weekend? Tons of stuff! Cleaning up baby's room from the shower, laundry, sewing, cleaning the house, etc etc. I guess you can say the nesting has officially begun! I just want to get stuff done!
Shmel's Blog
1. What's a film, adapted from a book you liked, that was as good as (or better than) the book? hmmm, not really sure on this
2. If they could invent a remote control for something in your house that doesn't have one, what would you wish it to be? cleaning, most notably folding the laundry
3. What business establishment's recent closing was most disappointing to you and why? I would have to say Borders. I loved that place
4. When you feel a case of the blues coming on, what do you do to fend off the bad feelings? look at pics of my niece & nephew or call their momma, kids always have a way of making things better
5. Plans for the weekend? getting rid of this cold! Tonight I think we are ordering pizza and staying in. Saturday will be the usual laundry & groccery shopping, maybe going out to eat for Vday. Sunday maybe church, Wal-mart, maybe Sam's club. At some point DH has to get new tires put on his truck.
1. What's a film, adapted from a book you liked, that was as good as (or better than) the book?
The Help and Water for Elephants come to mind...
2. If they could invent a remote control for something in your house that doesn't have one, what would you wish it to be?
I would love a remote entry to my house (like the way I open and lock my car). How nice would it be to not fiddle with keys when your hands are full.
3. What business establishment's recent closing was most disappointing to you and why?
I don't really know...I guess it's kind of depressing that Blockbuster stores are barely around anymore. I kinda miss browsing the store for a movie, that was a big thing when I was in high school!
4. When you feel a case of the blues coming on, what do you do to fend off the bad feelings?
I talk to DH, ask for a hug
or I distract myself with a book or something. It doesn't happen often...
5. Plans for the weekend?
Tonight and tomorrow, nothing really. Have to work for about an hour tomorrow since our SAT prep classes are starting and I want to make sure they are all situated.
Sunday, I'm going to visit my friend's newborn twin girls. Our visit was canceled last Saturday, so hopefully this one works out!
Happy Friday!
1. What's a film, adapted from a book you liked, that was as good as (or better than) the book? I have a few, but I would have to say "The Help" - Loved it :-)
2. If they could invent a remote control for something in your house that doesn't have one, what would you wish it to be? The dishwasher or the oven...would be nice to start both from across the room...
3. What business establishment's recent closing was most disappointing to you and why? There are some Sears and Kmarts closing in MD, and it's a little sad b/c those stores have been around forever. It's like seeing history passing.
4. When you feel a case of the blues coming on, what do you do to fend off the bad feelings? A good comedy usually does the trick for me! I have a few stand bys that are guaranteed to crack me up!
5. Plans for the weekend?Well, it's supposed to be rainy/snowy/icy in Baltimore this weekend, so likely hanging in and catching up on some overdue chores around the house.
Have a super weekend, everyone :-)
1. What's a film, adapted from a book you liked, that was as good as (or better than) the book? My favorite movie of all time!!! Stir of Echoes with Kevin Bacon. The movie was creepy as hell; not so much the book....and if you know me and movies, the creepier the better!
Actually though, I watched the movie before reading the book.
2. If they could invent a remote control for something in your house that doesn't have one, what would you wish it to be? LOL.....a remote to control humans!! Not necessarily just for DH or SD, but in general sometimes I'd just love to rewind, FF and mute!
3. What business establishment's recent closing was most disappointing to you and why? I was bummed about Borders. I know we still have BN (for god knows how long), one being close to my work, but we had 2 Borders close to home and Mike, Amanda & I could get lost in there on a boring rainy day.
4. When you feel a case of the blues coming on, what do you do to fend off the bad feelings? A hug from my hubby makes it all better.
5. Plans for the weekend? Went to a local bar for fish dinner and just finished watching "Abduction" with Taylor Lautner (rawr!), now chilling for the night. Zumba tomorrow, dinner at church and later going to watch our niece in an idol-style karaoke contest. Bumming around on Sunday, maybe having SD for a couple hours.
