Do you have plans for Vday?
Do you have plans for Valentine's Day? Me and Kevin are going to stay in a make a "fancy" dinner, in an effort to save money and avoid crowds. Not sure what I'm making for dinner, but something that's fancy but also quick since it's a weeknight. I'm thinking a nice steak, I dunno what sides, and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. I'm open to suggestions!
What are you doing?
Re: Do you have plans for Vday?
I wanted to do something like that with DH; however he is studying for his PHR exam (Professional of Human Resources...I think). So tomorrow night we're going out to one of our favorite fancy shmancy places. Then I think we're doing a movie. I think I might make something sweet for Vday evening for when he gets home? Maybe chocolate covered strawberry's...we'll see!
I also don't know what to get him...thinking about getting him a bottle of Jack Daniels with a Ribbon on it! I got him whiskey stones for xmas...and he's not had any Jack in the house since forever.
A10 Siggy Challenge: Our Next Vacation Destination: Paris!
Ditto this. I don't like all the hype and it's so crowded everywhere and flowers are so expensive, so we just don't bother.
We both have class on Tuesday nights, so we won't be doing anything the actual day of Valentine's Day. I think we'll celebrate on Sunday night though by staying in for a nice dinner at home, too. Dustin has offered to cook, so I obviously wouldn't pass that up! I'll make the desert - cupcakes maybe. We'll break out the good china and candles and have a nice little date at home! We usually exchange cards, but we don't usually do gifts. It will be nice to stay in.
We don't go out to eat on Valentine's day, and sometimes don't celebrate it on the actual day (esp if a weeknight). I usually make a nice meal on our weekend without the kids, which I'll make on Valentine's evening because it's easy- steaks MIL gave us and crab cakes I made in advance and froze. I'll likely accompany it with the Tart Cherry Pie he loves for dessert.
My gift to DH is taking him to the Flyers game tomorrow. (Awesome seats too- 4 rows off the ice in the corner where Flyers score 1st and 3rd periods) I am going to tell him tonight because it's supposed to snow, so I want to make sure he knows what our plan is. We'll go to Chickie and Pete's sports bar with the legendary Crab Fries (fries with Old Bay Seasoning and cheese dip) after the game for dinner. Should be a fun day out, I'm looking forward to it!
April 2010 Siggy Challenge: Next Vacation Destination
It depends on how I'm feeling by then. If I'm feeling better and this stupid cold is gone, we will probably go out to eat. If not, we will just eat at home.
Sunday I am making us a nice dinner of pork tenderloin, hasselback potatoes and knock-off Texas Roadhouse green beans. We've had a lot of desserts around lately, so I probably won't make any of that.
I do like Erica's idea of using the good china though, so maybe we will do that. Of course, there will be wine involved also.
ETA: Our gift to each other was tix to see West Side Story. I performed in this musical in college and can't wait to see it live.
@ Allison...I saw this the other day on WC and it looks like it would be something good for Vday.

April Nesties March siggy challenge: Next Vacation, Anguilla!!
We usually go out to dinner for Vday, but this year we are trying to cut back on spending so we're just going to do a nice dinner at home. I'll probably make some steak, and maybe I'll even let myself have a half glass of wine
I also told him to just get me a card and maybe some candy rather than spending a ridiculous amount on flowers. I think as my present to him I'm going to make a cheesecake, his favorite dessert.
DH's bday is the 25th so I think we're going to go out for a nice dinner in the weekend between the two occasions. I got a gift certificate to Mortons through work that we plan to use.
That does look good!!! Thanks
