My DH and I found our first home, our dream home, last month. We close Feb 28th. Two weekends ago we went along to the home inspection, not because we thought there were problems, it was built in 2007, but because this is our first house.
We learned so much from going to the inspection. Where the water/gas shut off's are. Sewer access and backflows. How to drain the water in the utility room more efficently. What all the vents on our roof go to. How all Kitchen outlets are set to trip two reset outlets. How all bathroom outlets are set to trip one bathroom outlet. What the whole in the basement office closet if for, a subpump if we need it. He even showed us how to fix some closet doors that were sticking. Etc..
The sellers were home and didn't expect us to be at the inspection. So we got to see the house as it REALLY is, and it was nice to meet the sellers. But I really suggest that anyone buying a house, even if it is new, to go to the inspection.
Happy house hunting! ![]()
Re: Go to the inspection! :)
Yes, you're right. We learned a lot from going with our inspection. It's better to actually see the issues and how everything works rather than hearing it from a person or see it on a paper.
The sellers are going to walk through the house with us the day before closing and show us how everything works too.
