Re: Oil Prices...

  • It's awful!! We got oil a couple weeks ago and it was not much cheaper than yours.  That includes the small amount off we get for paying within 10 days.  Blech!!!

  • It is so crazy. My tiny tank is around 400 to fill. Ouch!! Hurry up summer.
  • Yeah, $1100 every 5 weeks for propane here Ick! Can't wait for Summer! (where I'll complain about the heat :P
  • We have never actually filled our oil tank. Tongue Tied  I know it ends up costing the same amount, but somehow getting 100 gallons at a time is easier for me to deal with.

It's killing me this year to have to turn the heat up because we have a baby. DH and my dog are in heaven though....they usually freeze because I keep the heat on 64 degrees and 60 at night. Everyone (except me) is loving the 68 degrees. LOL

  • Wow. Wow. Wow. I am thanking my lucky stars we don't have oil.
  • This is why I just renewed with Our Town Energy Alliance. Last winter, I paid less than a grand for the entire season (November to April). I love them!

  • We can only afford 100 gallons at a time. During January that 100 gallons lasted us about 3 weeks. I probably have the most energy inefficient home in Kennebec County.
  • I called the one oil company we use and had them put in $200 worth because we're poor and can't fill it all at once. However I forgot that we were still on the automatic delivery plan with the other company and they came the next week and put in $600 worth. Blah...

We keep our heat pretty low though. We have a small house so running the oven for dinner keeps it pretty toasty if we close the bedroom doors in the evening. When we go to bed we have an electric space heater in the bedroom that keeps that room warm for all of us. I think we save a lot that way!

  • Ugh, we just did this a couple of weeks ago.  I can think of so many other things I'd rather spend several hundred dollars on.  I mean, those things don't cross my mind when I'm bitching about how cold I am, but still. :P
  • I should add that I don't actually FILL my tiny tank - but the half-tank I get is about $200 so to fill it would be $400 and I'm way too poor for that, lol. The trailer is not so very well insulated!! :(
  • Since you mentioned it, I was thinking that it's about time for us to get an oil delivery. And now I just saw the oil truck back up into our driveway. Helen is thrilled because it's the pink breast cancer awareness truck. I wonder how thrilled I'll be when I see the bill...

160 gallons, $602. Not terrible. Our last fillup was 12/1, so 10 weeks ago.

Our house is well-insulated and we keep the thermostat at a semi-arctic temperature. And DH still wears short sleeves in the winter!

  • I am jealous of your heating bills although, we keep the house at 68, but it still is a punch in the gut when we get that propane bill. The bright side is I put it on my credit card first so I rack up points :P
