nut allergy :(

well, the good news is we became aware of Sam's nut allergy through bloodwork instead of through ingestion/contact....

Pediatrician thought she might be allergic to milk or eggs since she rejects both and has eczema - turns out she's fine with those but probably just doesn't like them. But she is allergic to peanuts.

We don't know if it's all tree nuts. We are making an appointment with a pediatric allergist. The pediatrician called in an epi-pen prescription and told us to get Benadryl.

It's probably mild - she scored a 3 on the 0-6 scale.

And I spoke with an old friend who gave me such great advice - like reading labels on soap and lotion too since so many have almond oil, especially eczema creams!

Anyone else have this allergy? Any tips?

  • My cousin who is 11 does.  She is actually outgrowing it little by little but it was severe as a toddler.  My aunt does great with reading labels and they are able to go out to eat with no problems.

My daughter has a milk allergy, with an epi pen as well.  We just went through the testing and saw a great allergist if you are looking for one- dr ponda at net allergy associates.  They are a large practice with locations all over HV so he may be nearby to you at least one day a week.

    Thanks, everyone!

Our pediatrician recommended one in NJ that he sends patients to, as well as his own daughter. But thank you for the recommendation in case we need another!

  • I'm sorry to hear this- I hope you and Ali never need to use the epi pen!  My Godson has a severe nut allergy, but his mom did a lot of research and really has gotten things under control.

  • I might be a little late on everything, but what was going on that they did allergy testing on her?  I hope you dont ever have to use the pen, but I'm glad you have it if you need it!
