Yep he's here, he didn't go to class tonight because they had a sub and he's ahead anyways so he said he would take care of me. He's silly though because he's freaked out about getting them from me, so he's sleeping in the other room until the bumps go away.

In like the worst spot ever!!! It right at the lower portion of my panty line on the left side and everything rubs. I noticed it on the way to work this morning and went to the doctor and he said it looks like it's shingles or a bad rash but with the pain he defiantly thinks it  shingles. My dad is blaming it on my cousin causing me stress over her bach trip.

Dude! I'm sorry, that completely sucks! Your cousin may definitely be the cause. Hopefully it goes away fast!

Thanks I'm hoping it does too and I'm hoping the bumps don't get all puss like since we caught it so soon.

  • Ahh!!!!  I just had shingles in November!!!!

Your H can't catch it - it isn't contagious to others who have had chicken pox or the vaccine.  It is only contagious in that it can give chicken pox to those who haven't had it, and usually they'd have to touch the wounds to get it.

It's usually caused by a lowered immune system that allows the chicken pox virus to reactivate in your nerves.  Yay stress!  Mine was a bad job and bad boss - yours could definitely be your cousin.

It can get quite painful, but my doctor wrote me a prescription for Tylenol 3 with Codine which was perfect - I didn't feel drugged, but it took the pain away.  He suggested Vicodin, but I don't like heavy narcotics.  Give that a try perhaps?

Mine didn't ooze much and went away in a little over a week.  I had it around my bra line and couldn't wear a bra for that long.  Any way you can wear PJ pants around with no underwear or something to decrease rubbing?

Just rest and feel better!!!  Did they put you on anti-virals?

After E actually decided to listen to me he realized he couldn't catch it from me. Thank goodness!

I'm in my comfiest night gown that goes to my ankles. I'm on 800mg acyclorvir every 4 hours and tylenol as needed.

Dr says it might be because work has been super stressful for the last month and my cousin caused some extra unneeded stress. And to top it off I had a panic attack the day before at work. Super fun.

I'm glad to know your's went away quickly! I'm hoping the same happens for me.

Yeah, it was definitely stress-triggered for everyone I know who has had it who is young (meaning not elderly).  Whoops!

Take this time to focus on stress management.  Buy some lavender & mint essential oils, try to pick up meditation, etc.  When you're feeling better, work out.  It was a wake-up call to me that I was letting outside forces affect my health, so I've put a renewed focus on trying to manage my stress.

If the Tylenol isn't cutting it, give your doctor a call.  I was fine at first, but it got worse for about 3-4 days before it got better.

The thing I was most worried about is the lingering nerve pain that happens for some patients.  I was advised, once the wounds heal (and trust me, not before!) to use Capsasin on the affected area.  It helps heal the nerves, I guess.  Anyway, I didn't have lingering pain, so that's good!
