Security/customs during int'l layover?
We have a 2 hour layover in Frankfurt on the way to Italy, and another in Montreal on the way back. Do we have to go through customs or be rechecked by security during the stop? Thanks!

Anything you can achieve through hard work, you could also just buy.
Re: Security/customs during int'l layover?
On the way there you will go through immigration because you are entering the Schengen zone. Probably security at the gate as well.
On the way back you will likely have extra security at the gate because you are flying to the US.
Also I'm pretty sure you will clear US customs and immigration in Montreal. It's a little weird.
When I flew Canada on the way to Europe they made me go through Canadian immigration which was really silly, but their prerogative.
We probably vamped up security hoping to appease the us, lol.
I flew through Frankfurt on my way to Italy 6 years ago, when the airport was under construction, so that won't be the same. I did have to go back through security, but they laughed when I started taking off my shoes. The line was about 3 people long.
I think the customs policy is still the same. You'll clear in Frankfurt, since you enter the euro zone area, and then in Italy you just walk out. I was so surprised, I kept looking for someone with guns to stop me since my previous trip to Italy had armed guards at customs.
