Gift Advice

I would like to get a small gift for a co-worker and I'm looking for suggestions. She is 3 months pregnant and is currently in the hospital for dehydration (all is well). She also has a 2 year old. I wouldn't say her job is super stressful, but I know she is under a lot of pressure from our boss. In reality, this place wouldn't function without her.

So I want to give her something just to say I appreciate all the work you do, and make sure you take care of yourself.

If it were me, I'd love a gift card for a pedicure or something, but she doesn't like that sort of thing. I also don't really have a lot of money to spend. The other thought is maybe I'm being silly, and it's wierd to get her a gift at all, so please let me know if you think that's the case too!

TIA

Re: Gift Advice

  • Can you offer to babysit for a few hours to give her some free time to herself/husband?
  • A GC to a restaurant - maybe one that delivers or does carry out?

  • If you don't have a lot of money to spend, I would say not a gc to a restaurant (though I think that is a very fitting idea)...

What about a gift card for ice cream, would make 2 year old happy too

  • If you are a cook, you could drop off a home cooked dinner one night.  Also, you could get her something for her desk at work.  A little basket filled with candles, candies, etc.  Just a little something to brighten her day.  Esp if you know her well enough to know her favorites candies or whatever she might snack on throughtout the day.  Other things to cheer up her desk could be flowers, desk organizers, desk calendar, mouse pad (maybe a picture frame one).
  • What about a photo album or robe (<clicky>)?

  • Do you know what kind of coffee she likes ?  Do you know where she likes to go for lunch ?  PErhaps when she returns you can pick her up some coffee or take her out to lunch.
  • How about a small gift basket that you put together. Since she has dehydration you could put in a reusable water bottle, some bottles of water, some low salt type snacks. Add $10 gift card to an ice cream place or tea or coffee place. You could deliver it to her or leave it on her desk.

I think it is a nice idea. When I was pregnant and working I vomitted several times a day (finally had to get on meds - it wasn't just first trimester quesiness). Anyway, my female boss was such a jerk to me I would have loved it if someone had said "hey, here's a little something because I know working and feeling this way isn't great."
