Im posting on here because there seems to be more traffic than on The Bump. Anyone stationed in Beaufort, SC either PI or MCAS? What do you love/hate? Would you recommend it? Is it family friendly? Things to do. How are the local hospitals? Im a nurse and would like to continue working. Anything else you think would be helpful? Other than Oki we are used to smaller I&I duty stations so I think this might be a big change for us.

Re: Beaufort
Hi. I'm here now with H. H and I enjoy it here so far. We have no children, so I don't know too much about family friendly. One of our friends is a nurse and works at a hospital here, she has been here for several years and just bought a home. I think you will be able to get a job.
It can be lacking in things to do at times, but you are a pretty short drive to Savannah, Charleston, and Hilton Head so that makes up for it. It is over all a small town and a military community. They are also pretty welcoming to the military.
PM if you have any more questions such as where to live, etc.
H and I have discussed staying here if he decides to not stay in. We both like the area that much. Actually, we were just in Savannah yesterday car shopping and went to Moon River for drinks/dinner.
When I lived in Savannah for a short while, Moon River was "our" place!
Thanks for the info. Ive been browsing rentals online and I am in LOVE with Habersham. It will be nice to live in a military community because where we are now is SO not. Being close to hilton head is a plus! We stayed there when DH graduated bootcamp and I loved it. Thanks for the info.
Habersham has my favorite bar/restaurant. H and I go to it all the time. We've become regulars there haha.
That's why you're coming down to visit me!
My FI was stationed there for "summer fun" internship last summer as he's a JAG Officer currently finishing up law school. We LOVED it! FI has requested it for temporary duty this summer while he's waiting for TBS, fingers crossed!
Habersham is where we really would love to live - we have friends currently living there and they love it (Ggirl, we'll have to discuss which favorite restaurant you're talking about... in the 3 weeks I was visiting FI, we went to the pizza place there probably 4x. I miss it!). However, it's just outside his BAH rate, and we'd like to save money, so we probably will find something cheaper. It's gorgeous, though!
The one thing people on base told us is that the schools aren't known to be that good. I don't have kids, so I didn't look into it, but that was the rumor I heard.
