:-( RIP my Kindle
I am so sad and pissed. If you saw my FB post my Kindle has been pronounced dead by the amazon customer service reps. Its 15 months old. The warranty is only for 12 months of course. CS offered me a replacement for $89 with a 90 day warranty and it may be refurbished. Mmmmm no thanks!
Now I don't know what to do. I love love love my kindle. I don't want to go back to regular books. Its nothing for me to read 2 or 3 books a week. I dont want to go back to regular books. I also dont want to shell out another $139 for an electronic device thats going to die in 13 months.
So now I'm back in forth between 3G and Wifi. I loved my 3G b/c I could get on the internet at work. I was excited to try in on the cruise later this year to see if it still worked to check email instead of using the cruise ships internet. On the flip side I don't need to have internet access at work, and I go on one cruise every other year. Now that I borrow all my books from the library I have to use Wifi to download them.
I could get a wifi touch for $99. Does anyone have any experience with the touch? I have no desire for the fire or any other tablet b/c I like the E ink. I'm also going to be canceling my Cricut order now. :sigh:

My nook is a year old and it has had absolutely no issues. Just a thought.
I've had several people suggest the nook to me.The problem is I have a lot of cookbooks that I bought for my kindle. I liked being able to bring up a recipe and have my kindle in the kitchen instead of the lap top. I also have a nice leather case with a built in light. That if I bought another kindle I could continue to use. I am also a member of amazon prime so I have access to their user library in addition to the public library.

I have the touch (got it for Christmas) and am happy with it so far. Sometimes I accidentally flip too many pages or something, but that can happen even with a regular book. For the most part, I have no issues.
I am pretty sure that all the kindles are slightly different sizes though, so I'm not sure your case will work with it, if you didn't already have a touch. It might, but you'd want to confirm

I have the one with ads. They don't bother me at all, and sometimes they are good offers that aren't offered anywhere else. They only show up when it's off, or sometimes there's a banner at the bottom of the menu screen.
My IL's got it for me for Christmas, and got me a regular case because the lighted case had such bad reviews. They suggested just getting a clip on light, so that's what I'm going to do. I also don't know anything about the waterproof case - sorry I couldn't help more
