wwyd: tiny dog running down the street
I was on a relatively busy street on my way home from getting Tman from school today. It is windy and the speed limit is 40. I saw this tiny dog running along the side of the road. It was TINY. The only reason I realized it wasn't a rodent is because it had this super cute little red jacket on. ANYWAY, the car in front of me avoided the doggy, but I pulled over (mostly off the road, but not completely) put my hazards on, got out and tried to get the dog to come to me. The dog was not interested in being my friend (unbelievable, I know. I thought so, too!), but here comes it's mama running down the road frantically calling it. So, no rescue necessary, but it did turn into a little bit of a back up.
So, what would you have done in this situation, and if you were a few cars back in the backup, would you have been annoyed?

TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.
Re: wwyd: tiny dog running down the street
I probably do the same thing. If I was behind the backup I'd be annoyed if I didn't know what was going on. But, if I knew it was a puppy, I'd understand.
Me too.
My trick for getting my dog to come to me when he doesn't want to is to act like I have a treat for him in my hand and I say "good boy" and he comes running. So if I found a loose dog, I would probably try something similar to get it to come towards me and out of traffic.

I probably would've done something similar, and if I were in the traffic, I wouldn't have minded if I saw the pup.
In our neighborhood, there's a house with a little chihuahua that occasionally gets out, and when he's out, he comes running out of his cul de sac and across the street when he sees Satchel (when we're walking). The last time he did this, it happened to be right as the elementary school was about to let out, so there was a good amount of traffic on the street. The little pup was just standing there in the middle of the street, barking, and I was worried the coming cars wouldn't see him. Since I figured they weren't likely to miss me and Satchel, I actually walked out into the street so the cars would stop (which they all did). Plus, Satchel coming towards the tiny dog made him freak out and run back to his house. At least one driver waved at me (pleasantly) when I got back onto the sidewalk and the cars could keep going.

I have a tiny dog who wears a red jacket. The thought of her getting out and being in the street makes me so sad. I'd never be upset having to stop and wait if it meant protecting a little dog.
