Weekend Recap!

What did you do this weekend??? Did you have a good time?

I went up North with DH and some friends.  I'm really glad that DH and I drove up on Thursday.  Everyone else drove up Friday night and it took them between 6-7 hours to get there!  (It's normally only a 4 hour trip)  I felt so bad, and was really nervous for them the whole evening.  But everyone made it up, safe and sound!

We wandered around Traverse City for a bit, and went up to 45 North Winery near Suttons Bay and then went to Tandem Ciders (also near Suttons Bay).  It was a great time!  DH and I also had dinner on Friday evening at the Apache Trout Grill!  It was amazing!  If anyone goes up that way, you should definitely try it sometime!!!

All in all a great weekend.  Except that DH got sick (he still has a fever of over 100) and he also got called to go to New York this week on work.  So the poor guy is traveling while sick Sad.  At least that means that I probably wont get his germs!

Re: Weekend Recap!

  • Sounds like you had a great time!!!!

Friday night I met a good friend for dinner which was a great start to the weekend!  Saturday morning we woke up to frozen pipes!!!  Thank God they did not burst and we got them thawed out (we really need to do something to stop this from happening every winter).  Saturday night we went to a couples Valentine's dinner with people from Church at Haab's.  Sunday was Church, grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning, etc....

  • Fri-  I went to see Nick Carter perform with one of my friends.  The drive home that night was horrible.  I am happy that I didn't have too far to go.

Sat- Worked and ran errands with DH

Sun- Homework and I made a really good pulled pork in the slow cooker.

How was the concert? Friday night roads were horrible. There was a 65 car pile up in Bay City!

Friday I went to my parents for dinner but dreading leaving because of the roads, and then I was caught in Palace traffic because I forgot there was a Pistons game.

Saturday I ran errands and focused on HW before I babysat for a family. It wasn't great, but I appreciated the cash.

Sunday = BEST DAY EVER. Okay, but really, it was great. DH and I went to church, he made a delicious shrimp pasta for lunch and brisket for dinner. He gave me 2 Vday cards and 2 practical gifts (nothing romantic, just things I've been talking about wanting to get). I just thoroughly enjoyed spending the entire day with him. For a few hours I was working on HW while he played video games, but we were together. I love it.

I heard about that!  Thank goodness I wasn't headed up that way!

The concert was ok.  We didn't know any of his solo songs but it was kinda fun to be so close to him, it was a smaller venue.

  • Friday: H and I went to the Melting Pot with my parents.  They had never been before so it was definitely an experience with them Smile

Saturday: SLEPT IN! Then lounged around for the morning.  Then in the afternoon a few of us went on a mini road trip to GVSU.  My friend needed a ride back to school so two of my friends, and myself took her home.  We had dinner with her then headed back.  Overall a fun trip! I just wish it hadn't snowed while we were coming back. While I was gone H had his cousin over and they played games all day.

Sunday: Slept in, then frantically started cleaning the house.  H & I invited my in-laws over for dinner so I wanted to get the house spick and span for when they were there.  Well, H's cousin was there ALL day, and his parents didn't end up coming over... I was upset to say the very least but w/e. Went to bed early after watching Once Upon a Time and Desperate Housewives.

At least your place is clean! haha but I'd be annoyed if plans fell through like that.

  • I was frustrated because I pulled out a bunch of food to cook them from the freezer and my only option was to still cook it.  I understood why they didn't come, but I was still mad.
  • Your weekend sounded awesome! Apache Trout Grill is so yummy! I need to find a decent seafood restaurant close to home. Hope your hubby gets better soon.

My weekend on the other hand was L-A-Z-Y and I didn?t mind. I think the only time I got out of my pj?s was to go to Kroger.

  • Let's see... Friday I went to walk dogs at the shelter after work.  That was fun!  I got some good dogs.  My Nia class was cancelled :( , but I ended up eating dinner and watching tv w/ DH and getting in some good cuddles :)

Saturday I did a little shopping for our trip.  I got a couple things, but I need some more stuff.  I have so much trouble finding outfits.  I can find pieces, but outfits elude me... Then, we went to my parent's house to celebrate my dad's birthday!  It was really fun :)  I love hanging out with my family!

Yesterday, all our plans fell apart.  We were supposed to have friends over for dinner, but one of them had something wrong with their neck, so they cancelled. I went grocery shopping, did some cleaning, and made a nice dinner.  It turned out to be a good, low-key day.

I'm learning to be more patient and live a less-stressed-out life. But yes, it was terrible. I live approximately 3 miles north of the Palace, and contemplated parking and walking home, it was that bad.

I was supposed to go home to Midland Friday night.  My mom talked me out of going because of the snow, but I felt like a total wuss since I didn't think the roads would be too bad.  But when I heard about that accident, I knew I made the right choice!  That's right where I would have been driving about that time.

  • Glad you have a good time, Kzoo!

Our hot water heater broke Saturday night. HD & Lowes don't have the part we need.  Hopefully one of the places DH found in the area has what we need today and we don't have to order it.  Heating water on the stove to bathe sucks.

Sunday we had lunch for my sister's birthday and then I sat around the house being lazy & doing things like laundry.

  • We did a lot of nothing on Saturday which was quite enjoyable. Chores and grocery shopping on Sunday, and we toured a daycare. I *think* we may have found a place!

Oh how incredible - It truly was a blessing you weren't on the road!

  • We didn't do too much.  I stayed home all weekend with the exception of a quick run to HD and attending church.
We all came down with colds :(
I was able to put the first coat of paint on the stairway yesterday. I was hoping for one solid coat but it's in MUCH need of another coat. Sadly.
I did some crafting for decorating Ben's room and that's about it.

  • Saturday - FI and I worked on cleaning up the house and laundry, then we spent hours and a small fortune going to Costco and Meijer to try to get some food in the house.  I also got a nice email out to family asking them to let me know if they already knew they would NOT be coming to my wedding.

Sunday - I got my first email from one of my aunt's saying that she and her family weren't coming to my wedding because it was the weekend after July 4th.  (Today I got another one, saying that one of my other aunts was coming, but her husband was not.)  At this point, I'm down 4 people from my guest list, which is a lot when you are only inviting about 55 people, all of which are close family and friends.  While I expected some of this to happen, it is still really hurtful and hard to take.  I wouldn't have even picked that weekend, except that I was trying to come up with a good date to coordiante a wedding with my brother, whose fiance refused to try to coordinate anything with me. Unfortunately, this just isn't going to be easy on my emotionally, and I'm kinda bummed about it.

  • Wow sounds like a great time!!

Saturday: Dh and lil one went to Great Lakes Crossing. What started out to be an innocent shopping trip, just picking up a few shirts for the new job....ended up becoming a shopping spree! oops!.... Landed ourselves into Art Van and ended up purchasing a new dining set. ( to be fair we have been meaning to start looking and just have not had the time... I had seen one online that I liked and wanted to check it out in person). So needless to say, they were running an amazing sale. In addition to the 60% percent off they were offering that they pay sale tax and an extra 15% off. Soo after warranties and all that good stuff. We got our $1600 table for around $750! Can't complain! Its coming Wed.

Sunday: Grocery Shopping in the AM. Went to go see "The Vow" with my BFF, ( cute movie- kind of disapointed in the ending for it being such a great love story.. I wish they would have put a little more effort into playing out the future.)

Came home, finished up dinner ( had the crock pot cooking while I was out) and had a great Roast with carrots, potatoes, and celery. It was super de-lish. I came across it, thanks to some of you ladies, sharing your recipe websites with me! Then cleaned up, spent some time with the munchkin and hubbs, followed by a relaxing evening, photography free (might I add) watching my Desperate housewives on the dvr =)
