Downton Abbey - 2/12 (spoilers, obvs)
Um.
WOW.
All of it. Still processing. lol
I like privacy. A lot.
Re: Downton Abbey - 2/12 (spoilers, obvs)
I SO want Matthew and Mary together, and Lavinia's death is the open door to that happening.
And the whole kissing of the maid?
AND! I was seriously laughing about Thomas getting screwed. Served him right!
Poor Lavinia.
I was SO irritated with Lord Grantham about the whole Jane thing. Also seemed pretty out of character for him, given how 'honorable' he usually is. Boo.
That really was great!
I did in previous episodes want Matthew and Mary to get together. I can't blame Matthew for feeling so guilty, like Lavinia didn't have a reason to fight and just gave up.
I can't stand that Thomas is back! After all he did and lied about the least he could do was help out. He had being staying there free prior to it. I hope they find a way to get him to leave. Maybe he can go with Mary if she still gets married.
I go hot and cold with Edith, but I want to see her get involved in something. I don't mean drama ( even though everything turns into drama) I mean like a job, or a love interest.
The Jane and lord Grantham deal was messed up. I felt like he was taking advantage of her even though he didn't force her. His authority put her in a difficult situation especially for a signal mom.
Does anyone know when the U.S will get Season 3?
I really enjoyed this episode but agree that Lord Grantham's behavior was out of character.
the new season premieres in England in September, I'm guessing we'll get the season in January again.
I'm kind of disappointed that they killed off Lavinia. I feel like it was a cheap way to clear the way for Matthew & Mary to get together without him having to make a decision to chose Mary.
Next week is the last episode, right?
Do you think everyone knew / suspected about Lord Grantham and Jane? Cora apologized to him for being occupied with other things, and when Jane left Mrs. Hughes agreed "it' might be for the best."
I'm not sure how well Matthew could have jumped to his feet since he hadn't used the muscles in his legs for years!
A little sad about Lavinia, and I'm wondering if Matthew and Mary are right for each other after all.
Next week's episode is the last one.
I am a little tired of Matthew and Mary's situation in light of Sybil and her chauffeur. They are able to make it work. Why can't these two? I think Mary is too selfish to put her title and $ on the line unlike Sybil and Matthew now has that Lavinia guilt.
He looked a lot like Heathcliff there at Lavinia's grave.
Also, Mary was a *** to Carson. Even he looked shocked at her response to him declining her job offer. She confuses me.
I am so scared Thomas is going to do something to Carson. I kept waiting for him to choke on the food he served him while he was sick.I wonder if Matthew has his full capabilities or if he just can walk now. It might play into the story later that he is impotent. Not like he is one to try it out before marriage.
I was not happy with Lord Crawley and Jane. But this is how I talked myself out of hating him: Lord Crawley and Lady grew to love each other. I got that from 1st season. However, what if he just grew to care for her and thought that was love until he met Jane. He just seemed to be rude and inconsiderate towards Cora once he felt feelings for Jane. Acting out because he knew what he was missing? It just seems so uncharacteristic for him to be that childish about her being busy. I had to think him and Jane are special. I did kind of see that with her leaving and not pursing it for his benefit and him not chasing after her for her benefit. The whole thing seemed weirdly placed and tidied up too fast.
Good for Ethel! I thought that was really modern of her to stick it out with her son. He would probably have been really screwed up by his grandpa. What a ***!
I think Lord Grantham's behavior has more to do with not handling the fact that the life he was trained for is largely over. He's acting out because of that in my opinion. He's having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that just because the war is over doesn't mean his old life will return.
I'm taking that from his comments that indicated he wanted his old life back in the last episodes.
Finally got to watch it.
I thought the Lord Grantham and Jean (Jane?) story line was so pointless, especially if they just got rid of her so quickly without anything coming of it. Made no sense to me at all.
I can totally see Thomas getting in cahoots with Mary's fiance and them becoming the evil duo.
Anna's face at the close of it was the best. Don't mess with my man!
I'm glad that Sybil and the cheauffer ended up together and with the blessing of LG.
Violet during all of this was so hilarious.
I thought that this episode wrapped up perfectly, so I was surprised to learn there is one more next week.
